The minutes of the last special meeting were read and approved. Deputations present were the Roads Employees and J. M. Fisher. The former being unsatisfied with the ten .cent hourly, wage in- crease offered at the last meeting offered to sit in on the discussion, but were told by the Reeve that no deci- sion would necessarily be made while they were pre- sent. This has been the policy of Council for many years, so the boys vacated their chairs and left the room on the promise that some decision would be made this evening. Due. to the statement made by Coun- promised the electorate that NO pay increases would be given to township employees this year, the Roads Super- intendent advised that he would be willing to carry on without an increase in salary this year rather than 'lose these valued employees, but stated that Council should at least consider an addi: tional benefit such as O.M. S.ILP. or Sick leave as- well as an increase in hourly rate of pay to Roads em- ployees. It was moved that the Roads employees be of- fered an increase of 25c. over last year and that the Corp. commence paying a share of O.M.S.IP. similar to the O.H.S.C. presently in effect. Motion éarried. Clerk was instructed to draw up the new By-Law 'authorizing cillor Wright that they had. the /named increases to em- ployees remuneration. Mr. J. 'M. Fisher having received notice from the Dept. of Municipal Affairs that his plan for a residen- tial 'subdivision of 10 lots had been rejected sought ad- vice from Council. Council' a little disturbed as the Dept. has now advised that any further severances on an-in- dividual basis will be resist- ed by them, and that devel- opment should be on a basis of subdivision BUT the pol- icy of the Department does not permit permanent resi- dential. development unless the municipality has an Of- ficial Plan in effect, but further, they refuse to ap- prove residential plans of subdivision even where the municipalities (ad ja cent) have Official Plans, which to point up former Minister Spooner's decision that NO RESIDENTIAL expansion will be permitted in rural areas. Clerk to contact township solicitor re: same. The Committee of Assel- stine and Wright reported on suggested changes to . the municipal Office: a plan was described and cost of 'ma- terial quoted at approx. $100. Motion carried that project be carried out. : 1968 Roads Program was discussed - and tentatively planned' by Council & 'Roads Superintendent M.~ Suggitt; the 'agreement with Clarence Mountjoy was confirmed for processing 'and this project written into 1968 roads pro- gram, Meeting adjourned. ---86-members "attended "the regular meeting at the Club on Wed., Feb, 28th.
