Following High School gra- duation Mr. Hern farmed for three years before turning to the teaching profession. He taught school for five years and when called to Christian work he attended Central Baptist Seminary. His last three years have been spent there. His charm- ing wife has recently given up a teaching career for that of a pastor's wife. On March 8th, a formal welcome was held for Mr. and Mrs. Hern. The audi- torium was filled as repre- sentatives of other churches in town, 'neighbouring Bap- tist churches and civic offi- cials joined in extending a sincere welcome to this fine young couple. Acting as chairman was Rev. R. B. Lytle of Calvary Baptist Church, Oshawa. Mrs. David Aiken as Presi- dent of the W.M.C. present- ed a bouquet of roses to Mrs. Hern. Reeve J/ J. Gibson on behalf of the Council ex- pressed - good wishes and kind thoughts. The Scripture was read by Rev. William Black of St. John's Preshyterian Church. The speaker of the evening tor and people.
