Almost every year the Chamber has honoured some deserving citizen or citizens with a testimonial dinner. Representation to the Hos- pital Board and the Arena Board have been permanent every year. : Plans to number all the houses in Port Perry were made in 1958, and completed in 1962, and volunteer mem- bers of the Chamber them- selves attached the numbers to the houses. 1963 also saw the decora- tive lighting on Queen Street for the first time. This was an enterprise on part of the organization and 'the entire cost-of $1,585 -was shoulder- ed by the -Chamber. During Centennial year, the chamber paid for the painting of parking lines and crossing lines on $327. We did not accomplish too much the past year as we worked very hard on the 'Centennial parade. We did improve the Christmas light- ing .and had. the lines for parking put on the main street. You know it is very easy to criticize but how can a handful of people-be expect- ed to do everything. How can you know what is going | on if you do not attend the meetings. We are going to try and hold open meetings every month or so and I hope we can get more members out to voice their opinion or at least come up with some suggestions to improve Port Perry. As the outgoing President for 1968 I really feel the members of the Chamber of Commerce should come out and try. Port Perry has a lot to offer and I think we should take 'advantage of this.
