SMELTZER The funeral service of the late Harold R. Smeltzer. was held in Port Perry, March 6, from the funeral parlors of McDermott - Panabaker, with Rev. Alec Rice officiating. Pallbearers were W. Willi- ams, A. Prentice, A. W. Brock, C. Reesor, M. Dowson, R. 'Brinkman. Mr. Smeltzer was born at Mahone Bay, N.S., the son of Capt. James and Mrs. Smelt- zer. He attended Dalhousie University and taught school at Mahone Bay for several years. In 1912 he went west to Saskatchewan, where he was ~Principal--of --Carnduff|-- High School. He later taught in Prince Albert Collegiate Institute, before joining the staff of Moose Jaw Collegiate Institute as Vice-Principal, where he' taught for twenty years, then retiirng to Port Perry. Mr. Smeltzer is survived by his widow, the former Jean Haslam, also two sons, Walter of Burlington, Ont., and James of Oakville, Ont. one daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. James Harold) of Toronto, one sister Amy, of Mahone Bay, N.S., one brother, Capt. W.-Ci-Smeltzer; of Fort Lau- derdale, Florida.
