Scott and family of Osh- awa, Mrs. Lucille Scott and| family of Port Perry and Miss Sylvia Fralick of Scu- gog. Roy comments that he is on borrowed time now. Another birthday party in Bethany on Sunday was for Mr. Clarence Rowan, father of course the Sturmans were present. Mrs. Clara Sleep spent her 91st birthday quietly at home but received cards and call- ers. One visitor from a dis- tance was Mr. Earle Carno- chan of West Hill. The Friday evening show- er for Mr. Glenn Stone and Miss Judy Schroter was well attended. Mr. Glenn Wana- maker acted as chairman for a short program which in- ~ cluded community singing, contests for the young and old and a duet by Misses Ca- tharine Nicholls and Debbie Maschke. Then come. the usual address, the opening of gifts, the thanks and lunch. Things have been happen- iing over on the 14th conces- sion this past week. Colwell moved from the home place to what we may call the back farm and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Long from Toronto moved into the Stone house. Probably the next move will be when Mr. and Mrs. MacFarlane move to Port Perry in a few week's time. : ~ The latest property deal (so far as we know) is the sale of the Glenn Wana- maker farm; The Wana: makers will be in possession until July 1st. The buyer is from Oshawa. Mr. Carle Gerne of Brook- lyn N.Y. is at th home of Mr. and Mrs. Zolitz for a visit with his sisters Mrs. Schad and Mrs. Jahke. Mrs. Jahke expects to return to - Ger- many about the end of this month. Later in the summer Mr. and Mrs. Zolitz are ex- pecting to entertain Herb"s mother also -from Germany. In a letter received by Mrs. Eagleson from Miss Mabel Willows we learn that she has recovered from her hurt and is now holidaying in Florida. : Sunday viistors with Mr. and Mrs. MacFarlane were their son Reid of Toronto and M?. Irwin Hall of Wind- sor. Mrs. Chas. Lunney of Port Perry was also a recent visitor and the MacFarlanes found time to visit Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Lee in Green- bank last week. Mr. and Mrs. Morley Bruce travelled to Toronto on Sun- day to be guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Constable. Did you see the blue birds at the ice carmival? They were Bob and Diane Barr. Joyce Bruce was supposed to look like a flower. Mrs. Belair and Mrs. Moon attended a fashion demon- stration at the home of Mrs. Pat. Taylor, Scugog, Ont. Fri- day evening. Those Little Britain Jets have eliminated the Trenton team and are all ready to take on Cheltenham this week-end. The April meeting began with a Pot Luck Lunch, Twenty-four members and two visitors enjoyed this so- cial hr. Then president Mrs. G. Robertson called meeting to order with the singing of the opening Ode and repeat- ing the Institute Creed. The roll call was answered with a local or district cur- rent event. Old business was promptly dealt with. Mem- bers were reminded of two dates of interest to the mem- bers. April 30th our annual visit to Fairview Lodge with tarts and entertainment. May 4th at the Catholic Church, a display of Ethnic dolls. Home bake and needle- work sale. . Afternoon~ tea served. We were happy to have Mrs. H. Crawford of Green- wood, Ont. 2nd Vice presi- dent of the district, with us to install officers for the coming year and hear con- venors annual reports. In her address to the members, Mrs. Crawford offered a sug- gestion of interest for a pub- lic meeting. Honeydale W. I. new pre-| sident Miss Alice Dodd was welcomed to the chair to conduct balance of meeting. Membership dues were paid. We welcome Mrs. DeJong, a new member. Her long ex- perience with Institute work will be a benefit to Honey- dale Institute. Ten dollars was voted to the Port Perry fair board, also ten dollars to fruit and flower convenor. Vote was taken for a course offered by the department: 1st choice Paper Machea; 2nd Home-Crafts to be an- nounced later. This year we are to have four evening meetings be- ginning at 7.30 p.m. 1st Thursday of the month, May, June, September and Octo- ber, at the Municipal Hall.
