Friday night the Hall was filled 'to enjoy the Talent night sponsored by the Fid- elis U.C.W. Unit. It was cer- tainly an evening to remem- ber. Mrs. Cook Ashenhurst vis- ited with Mr. and Mrs. Ar- mour McMillan on Sunday. George Stone is attending a short course at the Univer- sity of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hun- ter attended the Memorial Flower Service held at the Milliken United Church on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ste- phens and family of Agin- court called on Mr. and Mrs. Paul Diamond on Sunday. Miss Elsie Wilkinson of Toronto is visiting for two weeks with Eva Crompton. Mrs. Nellie Wilson of Lo- cust Hill the former Nellie Beare of Marsh Hill had din- ner on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. William Bacon. Mrs: Wilson was born on Jack Townson's farm, the former Forsythe farm on.the west end of the eleventh. At age 14 they lived on Earl Bac- on's present farm where her father, William Beare built the barn. Her grandfather was on the planning board | of our local church, which is. considered to be a monu- ment to him. 4-H Calf Club The first meeting of the Port Perry 4-H Calf Club was held at the Port Perry High School. The officers were chosen and the 4-H work books were handed out. The officers elected were as follows: President, Robert Smith Vice President, Ron Parish Secretary, Bill Gray Press Reporter, Bruce Smith The meeting was closed with the 4-H pledge. The second meeting of the Port Perry 4-H Calf Club was held at the farm of Fred Pheonix on Wednes- day, April 24th. The meeting was opened by the president, Robt Smith and the business was taken up. Leslie Smith then gave a talk on points to look for when judging holstein sows. Next a class of Holstein cows were judged on which reas- ons were given. The official placing and reasons were given by Leslie Smith, Ken Wilson, the assistant Agricultural conducted a discussion on animal nutrients.
