When Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Sweetman moved to town re- cently, this was omitted be- canse it was felt it might have an adverse effect on Mrs. Sweetman's health. In- stead the community pur- chased gifts (a table and 2 lamps) which were present- .ed privately on Thursday evening by some of their former neighbours. The P.P.H.S. walkathon to Seagrave made Wednesday afternoon interesting for the folk along the road. It was amusing to see how briskly the walkers could step up when they ' knew someone was watching. There seemed to be more girls than boys. Does that mean anything? We have still another wed- ding celebration to report. This week Mr. and Mrs. E. Butt reached their 35th an- niversary which was marked by a family dinner on Sun- day at the home -of their (daughter, Mrs. Glen Wilson of Scugog. Callers to wish them well included Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wright of Cannington and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Glenney of Whitby. Mr. and Mrs. Wright also visited Mr. and Mrs. Roy Scott. : The MacTaggart items for last week arrived just a little too late so we mention now that on Sat, May 11th, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Moase, Karen and Donald of Scarborough were their callers and that on Sunday, May 12th Messrs. Fred Cookson, Isaiah Irwin, and Jack MacTaggart visited an old friend Mr. Leon Stan- dish at Lakeview Manor, Beaverton. ; Another bit)of news that was overlooked was that Mr. and Mrs. Percey Reynolds of Scarborough and Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Reynolds of Port Perry had dinner with Mrs. Reta Boe on Monday of last week. Wana- maker made their annual trip to Haliburton on the week-end to visit old friends Mr. and Mrs. Walter Webb. Did you see the write up about the Wanamaker store in last week's Lindsay Post? A whole column and pictures too! There was a good deal said about Bert and his sons but Mrs. W. didn't even get mentioned. © It must have been a man who wrote that. We were interested to hear that Dr. H. G. Lester had been elected president of Bay of Quinte Conference last week. Congratulations from his Seagrave friends. Holdiays at one time meant increased attendance at Sunday service. Now it seems to mean the reverse. Our S.S. showed the trend this week when only 66 were present. It was the week for the adult class to provide a number so Mrs. Reta Boe read two short poems en.| Own|. titled "The Lord's Prayer" and "On the Wings of Prayer".
