A bus trip has been men. tioned several times, and everyone's opinion is needed and weather is getting warm: er and we all enjoy trips if it is a nice day. Many will soon be on holidays and 'we like as many of our members as possible to take advantage of these outings. Last Euchre May 11th was another - successful evening 16 tables were played at. These Euchres are an even- ing of fun and laughter and everyone seems to enjoy this social get together, one has only to look around at the folks that attend from Osh- awa, Brooklin and the dif- ferent vicinities that attend to see why these euchres are . a success, it's a good social time. New Building, Renovations For Children's Aid Provision has been, made by County Council for the construction by the Child- ren's Aid Society of Ontario County and Oshawa of a new office building, the renova- tion of its old buildings and the purchase of furnishings. 'The-total-cost-of the scheme will be $250,000. The county said that on the completion of agreements between the county and the city for financing, the exe- cution of a lease between the municipalities and the society, and approval by the department of social and fa- mily welfare the society should not experience diffi- culty in proceeding with the project. Mr. Muirhead held a strong lead with 191 votes on the first ballot with Edward We- therall of Ajax second with 123. Mr. Aldred followed with 118, then came Norman Hogg of Uxbridge with 117. Robert Kenny of Port Perry withdrew with 30 votes and Rudi Maeder 'of RR 3, Osh- awa, was dropped from the ballot as low man with 23. Mr. Maeder donned a Muir- head sticker, but Mr. Kenny declined to openly support another candidate, Mr. Aldred jumped to sec- 'ond place on the second bal- lot picking up 36 votes, but Mr. Muirhead retained Tis lead, gaining 49. Mr. Weth- erall gained only seven, and Mr. Hogg dropped to 90 votes. Mr. Hogg, who said Mr. "Aldred's entry inthe race upset the voting trend, -also declined to support another candidate. Mr. Muirhead fell 12 votes short of a majority on the third ballot with 290 -- a gain of 50. Mr. Aldred pick- ed up 56 for a total of 210 and Mr. Wetherall was drop- ped from the ballot with 102. With only a dozen ballots needed to gain the majority; 'Muirhead supporters, includ- ing Donald Martyn, a federal candidate in York North in 1965, worked quickly to win over delegates.
