PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, May 30, 1968 -- 3 Ontario Junior Farmers Hold Field And Track Moet The Ontario County Junior Farmer field day was held at the Port Perry Secondary School on Saturday, May 18. This was a very successful event, and all Junior Farmer Clubs in the County were well represented. Ralph Shier of the Beaver- ton Junior Farmer Club and Don Evans of the Brooklin | Junior Farmer Club tied for| high boy of the day, with 8 points each. The runner-up was Earl Phoenix from the Port Perry Club, with 7% points. .The high girl was Diane Graham from the Brooklin Club, who had a total of 14 points for the day. The run- ner-up for girls' events was Marie Fair from the Beaver- ton Club, with 13 points. This year there was in- creased participation in the | girls' events, and for the first time there was a girls' tug-o-war event with the Beaverton girls winning over the Port Perry Club in the finals. In boys' softball, the team from Udney won the champ- ionship, winning over the Port Perry team in the final game. The Beaverton girls became the softball champ- ions when they defeated the Brooklin team. "Following the field day, the scene shifted to Green- bank for the square dance & callers' competition. One of the two teams from the Brooklin Club won the square dancing. Bill Duffy from Udney was the win- ning caller. : 3 In total points for the field day, the Beaverton Club was the overall winner-followed- by the Brooklin Club, and then the Port Perry Club.
