June 18, 1968 To Whom It May Concern: One finds it rather diffi- cult to understand why the children of ALL Reach Twp. Schools, . Prince Albert in particular, do not partake in a school picnic, a bus trip, or even a school swim and outing at our local parkland pool; especially after read- ing the large write-up in the June 13th issue of The Star. How grand! The teachers, school board members, bus owners, music and religious instructors and the caretak- er seem to have had a won- derful dinner and received momentos to suit the occa. sion. It makes one wonder if the taxpayer is footing the bill. Since our taxes are involved --why not spend this on the children? It is because of these children that there are teachers and school boards and consequently -a reason for a "get-together". All well and good that the occasion was "the end" of the present school board system but since Reach T.S.A. felt this Srme EDITOR they would be justly proud to host the tours for the children that Greenbank for instance provides. Even Port Perry Kindergarten educational and enjoyable trip, Kindergarten--another bad word in Reach Twp. It costs too much to provide bus service for kindergarten pupils! Far better to have a banquet and gifts for peo- ple who, though deserving, are salaried. So why not a bus trip? Why not, at least, a picnic? There are many mothers who would gladly help out with supervision 'if this is the ex- cuse. Are our teachers not interested or our school board not co-operative? Perhaps the school board 'would like to answer for the parents when asked "How come we never go on any trips like the kids in other schools?" . .--3everal of the Prince Albert Parents P.S.-- We would like to be occasioned a banquet, surely proved wrong about this! children are taken on an | ' !
