A bride elect of this month Miss Sharon Alsop. has been highly feted with bridal par- ties. Another one recently in .Oakville the home town of thé groom to-be Mr. Ger- rard. This get- to - gether brought about many acquain- tances and the usual pro- cedure of receiving pretty & useful gifts. Sharon's parents Mr. and Mrs. R. Alsop, Mr. and Mrs. A. Coates, Whitby, Mr. and Mrs. L. Fox of Goodwood also accompanied them to the shower. . Mrs. M. Pugh and daugh- ter Mrs. Solomon hosted a miscellaneous shower for Sharon when the future bride received a useful display of articles. Amid good wishes lunch ended a pleasant even- ing. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. L. Devitt, Oshawa were invited to the home of their niece and nephew Mr. and Mrs. Don Beacock, Port Perry. About 9.30 the four called at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Les Beacocks and the father Mr. F. Vickery where nearly thirty immediate re- arrived when the bride and groom of a few years were presented with a tree of money plus other useful gifts for which the guests of honour Mary and Laverne each voiced warm words of thank-you. A buffet luncheon and de- corated cake . bearing 'con- gratulations" was served. A sister of the groom Mr. and Mrs. C. Hamilton assisted too in arranging the party as well as all present helped make the merry evening. Guests were present from Burlington, Toronto, Oshawa, Cobour, Victoria, B.C., Black- stock and Port Perry. A former resident of our village Mrs. Smith (nee Alice Wagg) of Cannington has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith and calling on other folk. _ Mrs. Don Popert and child- rent of Wawa, Ont. are visit- ing her in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Popert and other rela- tives. Rev. and Mrs. Glenn Noble of Kitimat, B.C. have been visiting their aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gibson. Mr. Grant Beacock is holi- daying in North Bay and Sturgeon Falls. Guests with Mr. and Mrs. The main topic of conver- sation last week was the weather.
