Sponsoring the clinic are members of Warriner Lodge, Gives Report To Council Members Following a recent muniei- pal fire protection -survey here conducted by the Ont- ario Fire Marshall's office, Mr, N. J. Atkins of that of- fice attended the last regular council meeting. In his report, Mr. Atkins stated Port Perry has a good, average Fire Department, and the recommendations he made were not compulsory, but should be executed dur. ing the next few years. He strongly recommended that at least two men attend the Fire School at Graven- hurst every year. The coun- cil expressed their satisfac- tion with the. survey, and agreed that it should greatly ad to the efficiency of the fire brigade. Also attending the meeting were fire chief W. G. Port Perry Ballard Lumber Softball Club won the OASA Juvenile "C" Softball Cham- pionship on Saturday night when they defeated a hard hitting Tavistock club 4 to 3 in a real battle between two evenly matched clubs. Pitcher Rick Beare was in Tavistock scored one run in the first inning on two solid base hits and one Port Perry. the third inning on two more hits. The final run came' in the eighth inning on two Port 'Perry errors as the boys ap- peared to be very tense. Ta- vistock got two hits each from first baseman Eckstein and short stop McIntosh; cat- cher Mohr picked up the other hit.
