Last week we missed men- tioning the birthday of our oldest citizen, Mr, Isaiah Ir- win who was 89 on October 4th. and is still gardening. An ex-citizen, Billy Moase also had a birthday, but he is a few years younger. We were sorry to learn that Mrs. J. S. MacFarlane had to be taken to hospital last week suffering from a stroke. At time of writing she is showing some improv- ment but 'is still far from well, Her sister, Miss Lorna Dure is helping out at the MacFarlane home. Our other patient, Mrs. M. Stone, is slowly recover- ing but broken bones do not mend quickly, so she will have to remain in hospital for a while yet. Last Wednesday . evening the U.C.W. had their annual tussle with plans for the turkey dinner on Nov, 6 and it took most of the- evening. The devotional by Unit 1 and conducted by Mrs. McNeil BUSINESS & P 'Seagrave consisted of hymns, prayer by Mrs. Nichols, scripture read by Mrs. Tobin, a Thanks giving topic entitled, "Thou- ghful and Thankful" by Mrs. Hurst and a piano solo by Mrs, Tobin, Roll Call showed about 10 fewer than average attendance and nobody ad- mitted being any older. The usual reports were re- ceived and the ladies voted to increase their support of the Formosan girl by $5.00 as their costs like our own are rising. The question of new furniture for the manse was left until next meeting, An invitation was received from the C.W.L, of Port Perry to attend ' their 'bazaar on Oct- ober 26. Unit 1 of our UCW will have gift articles for sale at. the turkey dinner. We lunched on . doughnuts and coffee this time. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Bar- bour and family have moved back to Port Perry and are living in an apartment on Ella Street which was recent- ly occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tobin, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Butt were celebrating their 11th wedding = anniversary this week-end so their family spent Thanksgiving with ROFESSIONAL DIRECTORY HONDA - SUZUKI _ SALES and SERVICE ~ PARTS - ACCESSORIES SUPPLIES - SERVICE ALL MAKES SNOWMOBILE SERVICE R. Of late there has been considerable vandalism, Hydro lights, windows and the church sign have been repeatedly broken and last week as a 'climax someone heaved quite a large stone through the Memorial win- dow (World War 1) of the church, The officials are asking anyone who knows of such acts or sees anything being destroyed to Please report it.
