EE 44 - PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, Oct. 31st, 1968 CARNEGIE A very pretty wedding was solemnized in the Port Perry United Church on Saturday, September 21, 1968, when Miss Barbara Jean Holtby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Holtby became the bride of Mr. Richard Harold Carnegie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carnegie, all of Port Perry. The Reverend George Teskey officiated. Escorted down the aisle --by her father, the bride-was beautiful in a skimmer sheath gown of champagne blush peau de soie with stand up collar and slim sleaves which came to the wrists. The back of the dress feat- ured many covered buttons and fell in a short train. A narrow satin wedding band headdress secured her floor length veil of matching champagne blush lace, which formed a lovely train. She carried a white bible centred with gold cymbidium orchids and ivy. \ 3 The bride's sister, Miss " Mary Lynn Holtby was maid of honour and friends Miss 'Margaret Vernon and Mrs. Gordon Werner were brides- maids. Miss Laural Holtby, sister of the bride, was flow- er girl. They wore identical . floor length Empire gowns of orange crystal organza and carried shallow baskets of gold and bronze mums. Their headdresses were matching mums tucked in their hair. Each wore a gold engraved brooch, a gift from the bride, Mr. Ivan Luke was best man, and ushering were Mr. Phil Clark and Mr. Robert Parry. The reception was held in the church auditorium where Mr. and Mrs. Holtby, assist- ed by Mr. and Mrs, Carnegie and the bridal party received the guests. Mrs. Holtby chose a coat dress ensemble HOLTBY of emerald green with bead- ed collar, a white velvet bow headdress and a gardenia corsage. Mrs. Carnegie wore a sil- ver gray suit with green trim and a matching green velvet petalled hat. Her corsage was a green cymbidium or- chid. Also present were the grandmother of the bride; Mrs, Ernest Holtby and grandmother of the groom, Mrs. David Carnegie. Miss Muriel MacMaster, cousin. of the bride, assisted with the Guest Book. For their honeymoon to Cape Cod, the bride chose a soft printed wool dress of]: autumn colours with match. ing hat, and a gold, light| wool coat with brown acces- sories. Her corsage was a single gardenia. Guests attended from Sud- bury, Kingston, Toronto, St. Catharines, Dundas, North Bay, Welland, Concord, New- market, Peterborough, Mon- roe, N.Y., Bay Ridges, Whit- by and Oshawa. The happy couple will make their home in Blenheim, Ontario. Ashburn News Thank offering services will be held in Burn's church on Sunday, Nov. 3rd at 11 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. with Rev. W. COBBETT «A beautiful autumn wed- ding was held at Port Perry United Church on Sept. 14, 1968, at 3 p.m. Rev. Alec Rice officiated at the marri- age ceremony of Dianne Johns Hall & Richard Henry Cobbett. The bride wore a gown of lace and crepe with lily point sleeves and a train of angel lace. In her hair was a satin bow adornment from which flowed a triple-layered veil of tulle. She wore pearl ear- rings' and a pendant of JOHNS pearls, gifts of the groom. The flowers she carried were a cascade of red roses: and white crysanthemums. The bridesmaids, Mary Margaret Hall and Diane Rest and the maid of honour, Sandra Hall were resplend- ent in 'gowns of jade green corded linen. Their empire- styled dresses were of A-line design, with three - quarter sleeves and flowing back panels. Complimenting their | charme. The attendants head pieces were flowers fashion.-sories. She carried a cascade of yellow rose buds and white baby mums. Miss Sherilyn Sonley was maid of honour for her sister and wore a floor length gown of gold peau de char- me. The bridesmaids, Miss Sheila Kenny, Miss Kathryn wore identical floor length gowns of bone peau de Sonley and Miss Jane Sonley | SONLEY tulle. They carried bouquets of yellow mums. Mr. John Raines acted ag best man and the ushers were Mr. Gordon Vernon and Mr. Barry Saunders. The organist, Mrs. Snel grove entertained the guests prior to the service and also, accompanied the soloist Miss Barbara Taylor. Following the ceremony he guests were received at hurch hall. The bride's mother wore an orange ice sheath with a printed chiffon coat, brown accessories and corsage of orange rosebuds. The groom's mother chose a two-piece irridescent gold dress with beige accessories and a corsage of bronde mums. During the supper Mr. Rose acted as master of ceremon- ies. Mr. Robert Kenny pro- posed the toast to the bride.
