A total of 568 persons from all over. Ontario were present. Mr. Gordon Hawes of Whitby was named President of theO.M. H.A. for the next 2 years. The guest speaker for the afternoon was Mr. Scotty Morrison, Referee in Chief of National League who gave a fine address and stressed the great work of the O.M, H.A. in helping to train re- ferees through Minor Hockey to N.-H.L. ranks. He observ- ed that 11 of 13 new referees taken into N.H.L. ranks last year came up through O.M. H.A. & O.H.A. Scotty also gave a great deal of credit to the Coaches & Managers and all people connected with Minor Hocey for their part in helping our youth, to make them better citizens of the future. Mayor Dennison of the City of Toronto also - spoke along these lines. The--business part-of the meeting brought out some rule change and also many facts and figures on the operation of the world's lar- gest Hockey organization. Last season (1967-68) 934 all star teams were register- ed in the O.M.H.A. in this Province. This meant a total of 15,812 players. Also - an estimated 2,777 local lea- gue teams with 49,986 play- ers, for a grand total of 3,711 teams and 65,798 play- ers were in the ice rinks last season. Also an interesting note is that 12 years ago (1956) a total of 357 teamg were re- gistered for all star as to last year's 934. The O.M.H.A. did all the -adminstrative work, etc. on a budget of $24,974 last year. "| p.m. when they play Oshawa.
