Cy Wilson dropped the first puck: to open the season and the players were introduced to the fans. The game for two periods was wide open and controll- ed by the Mustangs, who con- centrated all their scoring into those periods. Ricky Evans opened the scoring with an assist going to.Ken Irvine. Grant McLaughlin scored second followed by Ken Irvine, both unassisted. Danny McCartney scored a pair of goals assisted by Ricky Evans on both and Ken . Irvine also getting an assist on the second. Paul Kane got his first goal as a Mus- tang assisted by Roger Moase and Rick Trotter. Glenn Geer then took over scoring a goal and assisting on the last tally scored by Paul Heard. ~---In"the "third period New: castle, who were playing their first game, got over their stage fright and scored four times. Unfortunately I did not get the names,of the point getters for Newcastle. There are some good players on the Newcastle team and they should do alright in the Group.
