Many ladies were unable to attend because of illness, t |-accident or inconvenience. Mrs. Reta Reader cond- ucted the meeting until the | President arrived from Jr: choir practice. The theme for Nov- ember was. naturally on "Remembrance" with an inter- national note. Therefore the opening thought was: "He who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen", We sang hymn 516 - "God of our fathers" and used the first verse of hymn 523 as prayer followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. Mrs. Myrtle Manns réad the Scripture from I Peter Chapt. 3: 8--17. The study period was used by Mrs. Reader to read an article concerning some of our brothers under stress and entitled, "Czechs are touch". In the roll call the ladies recalled some country that had seen national strife since the Armistice had. been signed or to name some place in the world they would like to see. In this area it seemed '| most members were fairly easy to satisfy and they were not too eager to travel to distant spots. Mrs. Betty Smith read an musing anecdote involv ing a lady's shopping exper- ience. Mrs. Reta Reader read a travelogue by Mrs. Adrienne Clarkson, Hostess of C.B.C.- T.V.'s "Take Thirty' who travelled with her husband to Samarkand from Moscow by turbo-prop plane for 4% hours, Old Samarkand is a OG N lost city in the sand in the Uzbekistan Republic near Afghanistan but taken by the Russians -during the Revol- ution. They saw mosques, mausoleums, and tombs in 'the oasis area which showed where civilization had flour- ished 3,000 years ago -and served as a route for spreading Eastern culture into the West. Mrs. Beryl Pearce then received reports and conducted the business period. There were books of tickets for doll and turkey draws to help .the hospital and these were all taken care of. Mrs. G.
