Past president, Denn Gray The election of cfficers was held and the following were_ elected. Immediate past president is Charles Bourgeois. Charlie has been one of softballs better workers in Port Perry He has umpired more soft- ball games than any other umpire in this association and must have averaged 10 games per week. The new president will be from 1st vice president. The 1st vice president is Don Ashbridge, the hard worker who has dona so much for the Island boys and girls. The 2nd vice president is Clairé Nightingale who mov- ed up from a directors job. Clare coached the Lious Club Bantams this past sea- son and has been a steady member of the executive. The treasurer's job will be held by Elmer Lee. Elmer that it is almost impossible to find a replacement for a man of his calibre. Doug McMillan, Doug also coached the Lions Club Ban- tams this past season -and will be a great boost to our association in this position: The directors elected were the - "Juvenile. . champions, President Softball Wayne Venning who coached the same team, Bill Harper, a former 'president and a steady worker, Jack Cook Jr the former Junior tem man. ager, Clare Watts who will add a voice from the north- ern section of Port Perry and John Pearce who this past season did such a great job with the Ideal Dairy Squirt team. . Several amendments were also passed. The major one was to hold the annual meet- ing on the first Sunday in May each year. Another by-law change was to allow Squirt House League to run on last strike but a 9 run limit will be en- forced in Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam Girls. Another by-law "change will enforce that in Junior Ladies series the residence rule and the age limit of 19 not before January 1st of the playing year "will have no exceptions. Under general business it was passed to purchase team pictures for the Ballard Lum- ber Juvenile Champions. Several other items were tabled for the new executive. | A letter of thanks was read out from Charlie Bour- geois who thanked all the executive, managers; coaches umpires, sponsors -and fans who made this past season so successful. It was announced that the Chamber of Commerce would honour. the 0.A.S.A. Juven- ile "C" Champions, Ballard Lumber with a banquet on November 26th. - Bantams Win 2, Tie 1 On Tuesday, November 12 the Beare Motors Bantams travelled to Brooklin to open the 1968-69 hockey campaign The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Port Perry's passing wasn't on the mark in the scrambly ing opportunities were miss- ed. Scoring 'was opened up in the first peripd when Bill 'Van Camp rapped in a. Bill Jeffrey rebound. Brooklin score hefore the period ended. In the second period the teams ~ each had a scoring play. Port's came when they were a man short. Neil Mec- Laughlin flipped a breaka- way pass to Brian Heard who deked the goalie and put the puck in the net. The third stanza had no scoring. The following night the same two teams met in Port Perry. Coaches Doug Mac- Millan and Don Cochrane Bronson were looking for a better performance from their team which is exactly what they got. The Bantams. jumped to an early 3-0 lead. Cal Coch-|* Brent Heard and put it in' flipped in a Heard rebound for Port's third goal. Brook- lin got a goal before the end of the first period. In the second period 'Laur- ie Williams intercepted a pass and banged a hard shot home. This was Laurie's first goal in two years. The defenceman more than makes up for his lack of scoring in his steady defensive play. Later Brent Heard picked the top corner for a goal after a good pass from Dale Bronson. In the third period Port Perry added to the 5-1 score when Gary Lefort scored. Brooklin then got a goal beating Rick Short on a breakaway. Steve Tomchishin went in all alone a little while later and found an open corner. Final score in the rugged contest was Port Perry 7 and Brooklin 2, On Sunday the team play- ed West Rouge at Stouffville and came up with a 3-1 win. West Rouge had, the edge in the first period and scored a goal. Port Perry started to come on in the second but couldn't find the mark. In the third stanza the score was still 1.0 for West 'Rouge with seven minutes the Brooklin net to open the!left. Then defenceman Ken scoring. Cal and Rick Camp: bell combined a little later with Cochrane getting the Nightingale made a solo rush circled behind the West Rouge net and slid it under » goal. Then Dave Bourgeois the goaltender. Heard then scored once again to give Port Perry a 3-1 victory. The Legion Pee Wees re- mained winnless, losing 7-5 in Uxbridge Wednesday and 6-3 at home Friday night against Ajax. At Uxbridge Doug Christie (2), Andy Litt with two and Randy Prosser. scored for Port but the team couldn't contain Uxbridge's Tom Newton who counted six goals. Against Ajax, Port Perry's three goals came from Camp- bell, Christie and Branson and were scored in the first period.
