LJ 'On Friday the: Mustands journeyed to Brooklin to play the third league game against a Brooklin team which was considerably weak- aer than the Haines & Vessey team they met in the play- offs last year. Most of the Brooklin boys are first year midgets and tried their best but were out- a Classed by the Mustangs. Mustangs who were led by Captain Ken Irvine's best ef- fort so far were never in trouble. They were up for the game and took the lead early in the first period on a goal by Rick Trotter assisted by Ken Irvine. A few min- utes later Ken slid a pass over to Danny McCartney who sank it for number 2. The third goal was scored by o Rick Trotter from Irvine and On the fourth Ken connected on a pass by Glen Sweetman. Danny Mc- Cartney collected his second of the night when he deflect- ed a shot from the point by oJKen Irvine. scored by Ken on a three- way passing play with Rick Trotter and Ron Short. Not to be outdone .by his line- mates for the night Rick Trotter scored his third of the night with an assist go- ing to Ken Irvine. The fin- al tally came in the third period and was scored by _ Glenn Geer. In case you get the im- gression the other members of the team were doing no- thing, let me assure you the score should have been doubled except for poor luck around the net on the part of Geer, Grant McLaunghlin and Paul Heard. CY'S GUYS 9 - Stouffville 4 Cy Wilson's Mustangs play- ed host to Stouffville Mid- gets on Tuesday and after a shaky start settled down and scored four goals in the 3rd period to win 94. Once again it was the line of Ken Irvine, Rick Trotter and Danny McCartney pro- viding the firepower. Ken scored a goal and assisted on three more to give him 17 points in three games, Danny scored 2 goals and he assisted on three also. Keep- ing in step with his linemates Rick scored two and got three assists, making a' game total of 10 points for the line. . 'The line of Paul Heard one goal & one assist, Glenn Geer one goal and one assist and Grant McLaughlin, were not to be kept off the score sheet. The defencémen also cashed in Tuesday with Glen Sweetman scoring a goal and assisting on another and Ron Short doing the same. Assists went to Roger Moase and Paul Kane. Stouffville got their goals from Norton, Lee, Hender- son and Roberts. Norton & Lee also picked up assists along with Emmerson and Gibson. - Paul Taylor started the game a little shaky but set- tled down as the game wore on to come up with a good effort. : Next Tuesday the Mustangs meet the West Rouge Midgets who should provide exciting opposition for Cy's-- Guys. House League Action Two close, exciting games were the highlights of the Bantam House League on Saturday. Cartwright won the first game 54 over Ste- phens. Campbell (2), Jack- son (2) and Handyside con- nected for the winners. Mac- Tavish, Skinner, Brain and Phiney replied for Stephens. 4 goals defeated Gibson 6-5. Stephens added a pair for Lefort while- Hillier (2),- Van for the losers. In Pee Wee Cartwright bombed Hurst 7-3 and Me- Coy lost 2-1 to Best. In Cart- wright's win Judson (3), Hen- ke (2) and Cook (2) got the goals against Hurst whose scorers were Litt, Pascoe & Waters. Van Shegan and Brian Campbell scored in Best's. win. Heard got Mec- Coy's lone tally. Cartwright got two goals from Larmer to shut out Pe- trozzi in Novice play. Pre- viously Williams had beaten' McQuade 8-3 in the first No- vice game. Camp (2) and McNab tallied Bantams Win 2 The Beare Motor Chevrolet Bantams seem to have the winning formula. They came up with two wins over Mark- ham the past week and re- main undefeated with four wins and a tie in five games. Last Wednesday at home .the Chevs opened slowly but came: on in the second and third periods when they scored 7 goals. : ~ Markham opened the scor- ing in the first. Dale Bron- son took a pass from Dave Bourgeois a little later and beat the Markham goalie to tie it. Near the end of the period Markham jumped to a 3-1 lead with bad angle shots that found the Port Perry net. In the second Bronson scored from Bourgeois again. Then the Chevs tied it up on a goal by Cal Cochrane with an assist from Larry Jackson. They went ahead to stay when Brent Heard scored after a pass by Rick Campbell. The third stanza there were three Port Perry scoring plays, Dale - Bronson from Dave Bourgeois, Bourgeois from Heard and then Bron- son scored his fourth goal of the game after being set up by Glen McCoy.
