Ra Na En Be La By O. Hill Last Sunday evening, Dec. 1st -- 30 Hi C members and their four councillors visited at St. Stephens Church, Osh- awa. The devotional was given by Dennis Romeril, Kay "Porrell, Donna Swain and "Gorden Malcolm. Laurie Turner showed slides of her Girl Guide trip last summer. Mrs. S. Saywell led in recrea- tion and a dainty lunch brought a pleasant evening to a close. The Hi-C entertained Port Perry and Blackstock young People to a party in the C. E. room Saturday night. A good number attended and enjoy- ed games. Refreshments and dancing until 12 o'clock. Cartwright Central Public School Parent's Night Only approximately 90 parents came to interview teachers on Parents Night on] Dec. 5th, 1968. This number: was much below other years due to the bad weather. A number of parents went to see the Board who were holding the last meeting for Public- School business, at the Central School. Approximately 150 persons 9). 4:123]o]e] 3 'BLACKSTOCK NEWS attended the Holstein Ban quet in the Recreation Centre Wednesday evening. The 0.N.O. girls served a delici- ous hot beef dinner. Rev. P. Romeril said Grace. During the programme that followed the meal Mrs. Harold Kyte sang three solos, accompan- ied by Mrs. L. Thompson, who also played the piano for community singing. Can- dy Malcolm gave two dance numbers with Mrs. D. Bristoe accompanying. Mr. Neil Malcolm was pre- sented with the trophy given by Master Feeds for the Grand Champion cow, also the A. J. Tamblyn trophy for Best Uddered Cow. These were won at the Black and White Show at Orono. Fair. Neil also tied for Premier Exhibitor. Rev. Terry Asbell, Peter- borough was guest speaker {and gave a very interesting address on the Future of the Dairy Farmer. The O.N.O. Banquet was held on Sat., Nov. 20, at 7.00 p.m. 43 couples attended. Neil Malcolm, accompanied by Catherine Corden, led in a sing song. Everyone enjoyed the en- tertainment for the evening which was Billy Meek from. the Pig'N Whistle Television Show. The Doctors, Staff and Board of Port Perry Hospital held an Xmas party at the Blackstock Recreation Centre on Saturday, Dec. 7th. Ap- proximately 100 in attend- ance. The hall was lighted with coloured floodlights, colour- ed huricane candles on.each table and a beautiful well- lighted Xmas tree complete with large cardboard . Santa Claus.- . Each lady received a cor- sage -and the evening was spent in dancing to music on the electric organ: by Lionel Vachon from the Thomas House of Music, Oshawa. Carol Morrow at the piano and Dr. Rennie with his banjo filled in 'during inter- 'mission to the great enjoy- ment of all, Several Paul Jones; spot dances, a ballon dance, and several lucky draws added to the merriment. Sunday services:-- In the United Church the choir sang "Let your Gladness know no end". Rev. P. Romeril chose as the theme of his sermon --The most Valuable Object in the World". Next Sunday church ser- vices at the regular hour at all points. A white gift ser- vice will be held at Sunday School at 11:15 am. Then at 7.30 p.m. the Christmas Family Evening Vesper and Candle light Service will be held. . In St. John's Church, it be- ing Bible Sunday, Rev. R. C. Rose delivered an appropri- ate sermon from the theme --*"God speaks to You and Me as Individuals" -- Next| Sunday will be the annual service of Lessons and Carols. Mrs. A. J.
