OBITUARIES | McINTOSH The death occurred sud- denly, Dec. 17, at the Oshawa General Hospital, of Donald Walter McIntosh of 121 Fred- erick St. He was in his 78th year. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alex McIntosh, the dec- eased was born at Cobourg, Nov. 6, 1891 and was educ- ated there. He was married in Norwood Anglican Church July 4, 1919. A resident of Oshawa for 30 years, Mr. McIntosh had previously lived for 14 years in Port Perry. Prior to his retirement in 1960 he was employed by Bell Canada for 53 years and retired as a foreman, He was a member of the Bell Pioneers, a staunch mem- ber of St. George's Memorial Anglican Church and a mem- ber and past master of Fidelity Lodge, AF and AM, No. 428, Port Perry. He is survived by his wife, the former Annie Newall. He was ~ predeceased « by three brothers. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Dec. 19, at the McIntosh - Anderson Funeral 'Home, Canon F.G. ot Ongley, rector of St. George's Church, conducted the service. Temporary entombment will be in Oshawa Union Cemetery Mausoleum. Interment at Nor- wood, Ontario in the spring. A masonic service, directed by Temple Lodge, AF and AM was held at the funeral home. to EDITH GEORGINA TILL "Mrs. Edith Georgina Til), passed away at Oshawa Gen- eral Hospital, on Dec. 18th, 41968... The deceased was in her 86th year, and had been in fair health prior to a fall and 3 days sickness. She was born Feb. 4th, 1883 at ~ Prince Albert, a daughter of the late George and Mary + Bond. On Sept. 23, 1908 she mar- ried George Till, Greenbank, who predeceased her in Nov. 1961. She was a member of _ Greenbank United Church. Surviving are two sons--1 Ernest & Leroy, pT and three daughters--Audrey (Mrs. Michael Wood) Brook- lin, Viona (Mrs. Murray Smith) Oshawa, Norrine(Mrs. John Cook) Greenbank. Also 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. One sis- ter, her eldest, Mrs. Lillian Mark, Winnipeg, -also sur- vives. Rev. D. Harris, conducted the service on Dec. 20, 1968, and burial was in Bethel Cemetery, Greenbank. Pallbearers were: Messrs. Fred Phoenix, Russ Till, Jack Goode, Glen Till, Michael Wood, Keith Smith. JOHN TAIT GRAY The death of John Tait Gray occurred suddenly at his residence 118 Water St., Port Perry on Tuesday, Dec. 17th, 4968. Son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Peter Gray of Kingston, he was born in Clyde Forks, Ontario and received his edu- cation in Clyde Forks and Kingston. * He was married to Jean Switzer and they resided in Oshawa until moving to Port Pery in 1953, He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Temple Masonic Lodge Oshawa, and the Port Perry Curling Club. Remaining to mourn his loss are his widow Jean, and one son Dr. James N. Gray of Base Borden, Ont. Sisters Lena, Mayme, Jean of King- ston and Irene (Mrs. Glynn Guthrie of Elgin. Cobourg; CHESTER REGINALD GEER . After an ilness of 1 ycar, Chester Reginald Geer pass- ed away at Princess Margar- et Hospital, Toronto, on Wed- nesday, Dec. 25th, He was in his 65th year. Born in King County, Nov. 25, 1904, son of the late Jane Wright and the late Albert Geer, he moved to Claremont where he received his school- ing. He married Dora Eliza. beth Bailey, October 18, 1922, and farmed in Utica for 42 years. A member of Utica United Church, he was councillor 5. years and Députy Reeve for 1 year on the Reach Town- ship Council, .school trustee for a number of years and an active member of the | Utica Hall Board. Left to mourn his passing .are his wife and four sons, Murray and Bruce of Utica, Jack and Don of Pont Perry, 12 grandchildren, '1 brother Charlie, 7th concession Reach Township, and 4 sisters, Irma (Mrs. Carson Watson), Ruby (Mrs. Ben Ross), Mildred(Mrs. Walter Maindonald) and Ver- na (Mrs. Gordon Smith). One brother, Ivan, predeceased him. Rev. Vincent Thormin, min- ister for Utica, Goodwood Charge officiated at the ser vice in Low & Low Funeral Parlour, Uxbridge. Inter- ment was at Uxbridge ceme- tery Dec. 28th. Pallbearers were: George Harper, Frank MacGregor, Larry Kendall, Bill. Brown, Tom Sutherland and Lawr- ence Midgley. MIRS. GORDON GRIFFIN' The death occurred, Dec. 117, at the Ajax and Pigkering General Hospital, following a lengthy sickness, of Mrs. Gor- don Griffin of R.R. 1, Port Perry. She was in her 57th year. The former Christina L.M. Rae, the deceased was a daugh- ter of David Rae of Little Britain and the late Margaret Rae, Born Oct. 16, 1912, at Dumffries, Scotland she was married Oct. 20, 1933 at Vegreville, Alberta. Prior to moving to the Port Perry area she had lived in Toronto and Pickering. Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband and her father and two sons, David of Toronto and William John of Scarboro. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Harry Fayle (Peggy) of Oshawa and Mrs. Robert Leggette (Alberta) of two brothers, Thomas of Oshawa and Wil- liam John of Little Britain and six grandchildren. The memorial service held at 2 p.m., Dec. 20, at the Armstrong Funeral Home. Interment in Mount Lawn Cemetery. CR Ontario County To Enforce Stricter Weed Control In an effort 'to promote more efficient weed control, Ontario County Cuncil last week doubled its staff of in- spectors--by adding Arthur Richardson and J. Wesley Piatti to the present staff. The inspectors will be paid $15 per day and 10 cents a mile for travel. Mr. Piatti will look, after the work in Ajax, Pickering Village and Pickering Town- ship; Mr. Richardson, Whitby Town and East Whitby Town- ship. M. A. Colville will look after Rama, Mara, Thorah and Brock Townships and the villages of Beaverton and Cannington, R. Medd will look after the Townships of Reach, Scugog, Scott and Ux- bridge, the Village of Port Perry and 'the Town of Ux- bridge.
