The meeting opened with Charles Wesley's hymn, "A charge to keep I have", stressing discipleship." Mrs. Betty Reader then conducted a study from "China Communes" which described one interested man's-.experiences when he paid a visit to one of the Rural Communes to learn how they are living. The roll call consisted of bits of wisdom or amusing anecdotes previously collect- ed and distributed by Betty. Many expressions of thanks for Christmas remembrance or other recognitions were received and acknowledged. Rev. ~and Mrs. Gilbert of Beamsville sent a Christmas card of remembrance to all the ladies. Two donations of ten and two dollars. were accepted from interested friends of Scugog and Beet- on, Mrs. Beryl Pearce thanked all for. their support in 1968 and especially with the sup- pers at the end of the year. Mrs. Amy Smith, while wintering in Ft. Lauderdale has been busy on the hos- pital bootee supply. A letter was received from C.N.IB. and Mrs. Helen Red- man reported some of the work she personally knows that is carried out by this organization. It was then decided to send $10 to pro- mote further aid. It was voted that we send $25. to the Scott Mission and later pack a bale for some needy place. Mrs. Irene Carter will take charge of the sick com- mittee this year. Eleven membership tickets have already been purchased for this year. Mrs. Gill and Mrs. T. Redman have become new 'members. Mrs. Betty Reader got everybody going on some very interesting contests which caused much hilarity and good will. Then all were ready to partake of the de- licious lunch served by Betty's group. On Mon. evening six mem- we hope to have one in Apri.l There=will be the usual bake sale and perhaps some form of garden party. Mr. and Mrs. Spears visit- ed friends in Orangeville on Sunday.
