The game was fast skating and end to end rushes by both teams. The first period and a half was scoreless and kept the fans sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the first goal. The delay was do mainly to outstanding goal tending and fine defen- sive work by both teams. Grant McLaughlin scored the opener when some fine fore checking by the line paid off and both Paul Heard and Glenn Geer were reward- - ed with assists. Just before the period ended the same three clicked again with Mc- Laughlin getting his second - goal of the night, In the third period the Mustangs didn't let up and Ken Irvine and Danny Mec- Cartney fed Rick Evans a fine pass to put him in the clear and he made no mis- take to make it 3-0 for the Glenn' Geer and Grant McLaughlin teamed up for the fourth Mustangs goal - with Grant finishing the play . to get: his hat-trick. Grant McLaughlin who also played _on a line with J Paul Kane and "Rick Trotter 'came up' With "his fourth goal on a pass : from Paul Kane. Uxbridge didn't give up and came on to score with John Scott doing a solo for their first counter and putt- ing the finish on a play from Ken Geer and Reg Westgarth Mustangs came back and counted again before the end of the game when Rick Trot- ter let a sizzler go from just inside the blueline when he picked up a pass from, Glenn Geer. The game was a complete team effort: with special mention to the fine game played by Dave Gray who deserved a shutout and Grant McLaughlin who seemed » be Sverywhere at once. must say a.word about the defence also, despite having been short handed on de- fence they did a tremendous job. Second Game Uxbridge 5 -- Mustangs 3 On Wednesday the Must- angs visited Uxbridge for the second game of the ser- ies and dropped a 5-3 decis- ion to a fired up Uxbridge team who out hustled the Mustangs all the way. Uxbridge outskated Cy's Guys and as a result finished up the second period with a 5-1 lead. H it hadn't been for the work of Dave Gray in the nets it could have been more. The Mustangs came to life in the third period with two quick goals and Uxbridge were hard pushed to hold on. Ken Irvine took a penal- ty shot for the Mustangs and deked the goalie beauti- fully, only to have the puck trickle past the goal post. It was a typical Uxbridge- Port Perry game featuring fast skating and good hockey throughout the game. Third Game 'Mustangs 6 -- Uxbridge 3 .On Saturday the Port Perry fans: were -treated to an: ex- citing hockey game when the Mustangs defeated the Uxbridge Midgets 6-3 to take the series' two games to one. This question may well be answered on Sunday After- noon when an open meeting will be called at.the arena, 2:30 pm, ' A group of men are willing to set-up a Junior "C" or Junior "D" team here in the 1969-70 season if possible. The people of Port Perry are without O.H.A. Hockey this season with the folding of the Int. "C" Club and with the fine Minor Hockey system in operation many feel a Junior team could be operated with proper man- agement. A lot of careful thought must be given such a ven- ture so it is hoped that all interested hockey fans, exe- cutives and possible sponsors will come out on Sunday and express their line of thought.
