Dymond, Ontario Minister of Health, a former member of Port Perry Nine Men With 143 Years Service Honoured By Port Perry Residents Continued present on this occasion to be among those who were paying tribute to the hon- oured guests. Dr. Dymond said he knew all of these men personally and had wor. ked with a number of them on occassion. He said that they all had "served in politics in one way or another, as politics was --»selling a service or-an-idea and this is what these men " have done for Port Perry in their different capacities. He went on to say that these men were happy to be able to serve the town and that|- 'joyed his yedrs on council they were very deserving of the honour being paid them tonight. Mr. Grant McDonald, prin- cipal of Port Perry High School thanked Dr." Dymond for being present, stating that he was a great man and that it had been an honour and a privilege to be able to listen to him tonight. He offered a vote of thanks to Chamber of Commerce and to council- lor Ken Jackson for their ef- forts in making this evening possible. He also thanked J. J. Gibson for his service and efforts on behalf of the town, stating that he had served all his time on coun- cil under Mr. Gibson as reeve, -Mr. Gibson said he had en- and county council and that he had a good council serv- ing with him at all times. He also wished the present reeve and council success in the future. Mr. Boyd said that his years on council were the most pleasant that he had spent in Port Perry. Deputy-reeve- Bruce Beare presented plaques to the firmen on behalf of the town, stating that it-hd been a. privilege for him to have served as a fireman for a number of years and was happy to see these men being honoured tonight, Mr. Guy Raines was unable to attend was also presented with a certificate naming him an honourary chief of Port Perry Fire Department. Mrs, Helen Redman conducted an interesting. and informative study of the 12 disciple, Mrs. Joyce Heayn continued ship of one modern day man Albert Einstein who died in 1955 but who during his life as a German jew; a mathe- matical physicist had given us the Theory of Relativity. Mrs, Beryl Pearce closed the study with prayer. The roll. call was to be Valentine verses. At this time many autograph album verses were recalled, The correspondence was reviewed. There was a note from Mrs. Alex Martyn ac- knowleding the farewell gift of a ball point pen, a letter from C.N.LB., the Scott Mis- sion and an invitation to Manchester Valentine Tea, Feb. 12th. We voted to send $10 to World Relief. Mrs. Lil Moore joined our organiza- tion and consented to can- vass the "Head" for the Heart Fund. We decided to pack a clothirfg bale at the March meeting to be held at Mrs. Maris Clarke's. As we were not able to get a Vice-president in 1968, we shall now request some mem- ber to fulfil this position. Used stamps and -Canada Packer labels were . turned in. Mrs. Clara Dowson gave two comic readings "Maw"s Old Galvanized Wash Tub" she can do better". Before lunch we had a contest in manufacturing Val. entines and inscribing = a verse. Ted Griffen at this point thanked the Legion Ladies for the meal and also all those present who made this evening a success. EXPENDITURES SET The Department of High- ways has notified Ontario County that its expenditures this year for construction and maintenance will be limited to $1,760,000 and $603,000, respectively. Additional by- laws for special projects may be approved but the depart: ment warned it is unlikely the 1969 appropriations will be significantly greater this year and the department will exercise close control over commitments of subsidy.
