Port Perry U.C.W. The February meeting of unit nine was held on Tuesday evening, Febru- ary 25 at the home of Mrs. Thelma Beare with 18 members and 1 visitor present. President Joan (Mrs. Wes) Lane welcomed all those present and opened the meeting with an in- spirational ~ poem "But What is Poor?" * The group in charge of the devotional and pro- gramme for the month-- Thelma Beare, Joan (Mrs. Roy) Lane, and Linda Bray then took charge of the meeting. Two hymns were sung, and two por- tions of scripture were read by Joan and Linda. Thelma led in an active discussion on the first 2 chapters of the study book "Man Alive". The minutes of the last meeting were read and ap- proved and collection tak- en, -with several more members paying their fees for the year. Gladys Joblin presented the group with two attrac- tive serving trays to be used in the upstairs kitch- enette at the Church, Mrs. Lane thanked all those who had helped in any way to make the last general meeting at the church such a success. The next Lucky Lunch- eon date is now set for next spring. 'Members were asked to leave their subscription money for "The Observer" with Edna Fowler before | the end of March. Jean McDermott explain- ed about the. Irish Smor- to bring food and to help. Announcement was made of the World's Day of Prayer service to be held March 7th at 7:30 p.m. in the Catholic Church on Scugog Street. We were asked to con- tinue saving Canada Pac- kers' labels to enable us to obtain more linen table- cloths. Five ladies offered to help in the Nursery on Sunday mornings for the month of March, Several ideas were dis- cussed on how to raise money for the unit. It was decided that each memher bring an article (or artic- les) to the next meeting to be used in an auction. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction and a delicious lunch was served by the hostess and group in charge. 4-H CLUBS * On Wednesday, Febru- ary 19, 1969 the '"Man- chester Dairy Queens' met at the home of Anna Crox- all for the third meeting. Notes were taken on Hidden Treasurer. Anna Croxall demonstrated how to make French Toast. Sheila Williams closed the meeting with the 4-H Motto.
