The increase is retro- active to June '1. Council was told there had been a substantial increase in the costs of services and goods supplied.' The 1969 estimates indicate the cost of maint- aining and" operating the homes will be in excess of $9 per day. ~ On May 31, there were 347 residents in the homes. Between Jan. 1 and May 31, 211 persons were admitted and there were 136 deaths and discharges. The number HIRE »* and the committee feels it will be unable to guarantee immediate admission, Lakéview Manor, the new home at Beaverton, is over 90 per cent occupied and there are only 10 vacant beds. The committee urged coun- cil to begin planning of an addition. at the Beaverton home without delay as it would require four to five years to provide additional facilities from the commence- ment of planning to complet- ee problems.
