It was in this building that the fire started in. 1883. All buildings on the _ north side burnt down as far west as McCaw"s Jewellery Store, now Pentlands. The next year in July 1884 the rest of the business section burned. Our community enjoyed a short «period of camparative calm last week. The only group in action were the Girl 'Guides who, with their leader Mrs. Howell, had a camp-out' for several days at the back of the Howell farm, They refort a wond- "erful time with no casualties unless it was Mr. Howell. We Seagravers are all pleased that Mr. H. Eagleson is making such a splendid re- covery after surgery last Fri- day in Port Perry Hospital. Mr. E. is in his 93rd year: which makes it quite amaz- ing. - Visiting at the McNeil home this last week-end was Miss_Lillian Rutherford from Panama. She was nurse for Dorothy McNeil (Mrs. Lutter- al) when Mr. McNeil was sta- tioned in the West Indies. They didn't say how many years ago this was.
