It was good harvest weather so people were slow in gathering and for this reason only a short program was planned. The young couple received many nice and use- ful gifts and a. fine social time was enjoyed during lunch, served by Unit 3, U.C.W. We have just one more Shower September 12th and wedding September 20th. For a few weeks now the Tobins will occupy the spotlight. Still on 'the subject' of weddings, we note that Mr. McNeil was the busy man on the weekend. He officiated at a small private wedding in Greenbank church on Friday evening and at the much larger Thompson-Gillson wed- ding in Pleasant Point Church, on Saturday. Wana- maker, called on several old friends in" the village, and ended up the day at the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Snyder on the island. i On Wednesday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Belair journeyed to Oshawa as dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Davidson. Bill Wanamaker was chore- boy again this week-end. Neil and Donna's excuse this time was a surprise birthday party for Mrs. Ian Fraser in Willow- dale. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Zolitz have returned from their European jaunt apparently none the worse. Mr. Neil McMillan entered Oshawa hospital on Monday {for a cataract operation on his eyes. We hope it is quite successful. Honey's.- corner carried a jinx for Seagravers last week. On Wednesday, Mrs. Barr and Mr. Cervenka collided at the PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, Aug. 28, 1969 -- 5 intersection. Fortunately only minor damage was done but we found that Brian Barr's head was of better stuff than their windshield. The second accident on Thursday, was one in which Mrs. Reta Boe and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hill, R.R. Little, Britain met head on with some force. Mrs. Boe is in Port Perry hospital with a broken ankle and assorted bruises. Mr. and Mrs. Hill were less seriously injured and were allowed home on Fri- day. Both cars look pretty sad. Mrs. J. MacTaggatt's post: poned sale takes place this Wednesday. She expects to stay in Seagrave for awhile. Still no church services but the women are beginning to stir. The "executive of the U.C.W. met on Monday even- ing to discuss Wedding menus, and Unit 2 plan on having a quilting meeting at Mrs. Hunt- er's home next Wednesday.
