Pocock will bless the newly constructed Immaculate Con- ception Church in Port Perry, _ Ontario on September 21st, 1969 at 04.00 p.m. Construction was begun during Centennial Year, and is at Highway 7A and serves "the Mission of Sacred Heart "Church, Uxbridge, Ont. where | ---- the Rectory is located. Both, Uxbridge and its Mission Port Perry are in the pastoral care of Father Adrian Lee, SCJ. The new church is part of a larger plan, to be executed in- the future. A Parish Hall could be added later and give the ever growing number of summer guests the opport- unity to attend Mass on Sundays. The church as now completed seats about 260 and is well attended during three Masses. It is safe to assume that Mass attendance during summer, due to the influx of summer guests has increased by one hundred per "~----~cent, since the new church came into use. The new church was cont- racted for 77,203.96 and final payment was 75,585.38 -in total after additions and deductions. The new church consists of the church proper, a very large sacristy, to be divided into two parts by sliding doors to be used for classrooms; a separate adorat- fon chapel, to be heated independently; another nurs- ery-classroom;entrance-cloak- room and washroom facilit- ies. The building is all-electric. The. .-Tabegpaele is by Andriessen ~~ Church Art (Holland) and the statues have been handcrafted in Quebec with the exception of the statue of Our Lady, which is 'Italian Art. The new. church and its facilities, plus the' old former church building and basement are being used for . the Cathechism Classes (all grades)' The = Church furnishings, consisting of the Altar, Blessed Sacrament Stand, president's chair, baptismal font, lectern, three servers seats and cred- ence table are executed in Rockwood Imperial Veined Alabama Limestone. Rev. Mr. Teskey was as- sisted by Ricky Best and Mi- chael Ives in the service on Sunday. John Steer and David Conroy received the offering. Next Sunday the service will be at Prospect at 10:30 am.
