After reading a poem appropos to our busy summer, unit 9 was called on to present the devot- ional period. This was led by Miss _Galdys Joblin with Mrs. Kay Walker and Mrs. Marg- aret McKee taking part. The minutes-were read and approved'and further business discussed. Arrangements are being made to hold a Thank- Offering Service -Oct. 19th. Treasurer Mrs, Joy Hull gave her report and it was generally felt that in spite of] the work involved.with cater- ing during the summer it had proved. to be a very, satisfact- ory source of income. Mrs. Margaret Brignall reported sending out 185 cards durin the summer to sick, shut-ins, etc. Mrs. Verna Griffin spoke of the enjoyable time at a picnic held in July for some of the people in our commun-| ity needing friendship and entertainment. This was held to help the ladies known as the 'Friendly Neighbours' in their splendid work and it is hoped that the organization will be able to help in other ways during the year. Members were reminded of] the coming bazaar to be held November 1st and it is hoped the ladies are working with) that in mind.
