Tyke - H.L. Port Cleaners Squirt - H.L. Cartwright Peewee - H.L. Jewell Const. Bantam - H.L. Cartwright Bantam Girls - Starlets Junior Ladies - Zion Lions Club Bantams won the Ont-York Bantam League. Flamingo Pastries Midget team won . the Ont-York Midget League as well as the Willowdale Midget Tourn- ament. Ballard Lumber won the 0.A.S.A. Zone 4 honours in juvenile competition." Port Perry Legion Squirts won the consolation trophy MINOR SOFTBALL NEWS at the Preston Squirt Tourna- ment. The I.G.A. Peewees advanc- ed to the O.A.S.A. Zone 4 Semi-finals. The Gary Jackson Trophy was won by Jim Lee, Jim pitched the Ballard Lumber Juveniles to the Ont. Semi- finals. He was a steady hitter throughout the entire season and showed fine sportsman- ship at all times. ~ To all the coaches, mana- gers and umpires a big thank- you. To all local merchants and residents who supported the boys and girls we are grateful. The final softball gathering for this season will be the fall dance being held at the Legion Hall October 25th, Contact any executive mem- ber for information. The Bantam Girls League was won by the Starlets, and they were presented with the Dr. M.B. Dymond Trophy vi Sunday. Members of the team were:Gerry Scanlon, Mary Skinner, Heather Burnfield, Paula Jeffrey, Kim Harrison, aren Walker, Barbara Durham, Sandra Luke, Terry Henderson, Donna Wallace, Janet Watson, Denise Crawford, Shay Gray and Sandra Beetle were the coaches. {The names are not in order.) Port Cleaners won the Tyke division and were presented with the Jim Irvine Memorial Trophy. On Mon. evening of Oct: 6th members of the Histori- cal Society met at the Scu- gog Township with "Head" U.CW. members and other Scugog residents who are in- terested in the future use of the "Head" Church. Twenty- four people were present. Mrs. Beryl Pearce, Mrs. Helen Redman, Mr. Bill Brock and Mr. Wilmot Phair made up the panel who presented the purpose of the meeting with its proposals & information. Mr. Brock stated that they are interested in a log cabin site and a . museum which should be a living link be- tween the past and present. It is their aim to help the children to learn of the pact thro' a study of displays and crafts. He listed several ways in which life woud flow thro' the Community centre. After many questions were answered the Island group went to the Council Cham- bers for further discussion. They returned with an una. nimous decision to share the plan. with the privilege of withdrawing at a later date. A consenting agreement will possibly be drawn up in the near future.
