The Historical Society and UCW of Head Church agreed that the Church built in 1860 should be the site of a pro- posed museum. An estimated 2,000 persons attended the annual Auto Show staged by five local car dealers. Ladies Hospital Auxiliary opened a Tuck Shop in the new Community Memorial Hospital. A record registration of -242 were signed-up for-Adult' Education classes at the High School. The breeder house of Peel's Poultry Fapm Ltd. was totally destroyed'by a morn- ing fire. The building, 15.000 sq. ft. at times housed as many as 5,500 birds. At the time the breeder house was fortunately empty. The Historical Society an- nounced $2,100 was raised in connection with "Canoe the Nonquon". G. H. Proctor takes over the reigns in the local branch of Royal Bank of Canada fol- lowing the transfer of Mr. A. G. Pacey to the Harriston branch. NOVEMBER A great deal of damage was caused during Hallowe' en when an estimated 300 to 400 persons mingled on Queen St. Windows were broken in four establish- ments; police cruisers were smeared with paint, the bill board in front of Post Office was topled over & complete- ly destroyed. Firemen turn: ed out to assist and managed to disperse the crowd with a couple®of powerful water hoses. Children from R. H.
