I was so mad I told a girl why she was at our place. others what my cousin had been doing. If my mother ever hears about it, I'll be in deep _ water. My cousin isn't that bad. She has some very hig cracks in her make-up. Now on account of my stupid jealousy (she has a nice figure) I have been spilling family secrets. Big Mess DEAR MESS -- So now you have .a bad case of footin- mouth disease. The cure? Well, you can't take -back anything you have once said out loud, so you go to your friend and explain that you betrayed a family confi dence. Ask her never to talk about your cousin. Next, make your cousin sin- cerely and honestly welcome, remembering just how unhap- py she really is. One good Doris Clark and straighten her out. DEAR DORIS -- I have a brother who has been sen- tenced to prison three times . for theft (all before he was 19). Iam dating an R.C.M.P. offi- cer. Would my brother's past have any bearing on the fact that I may marry this officer? I'm _told that when a man en... ters the force his criminal rec- ord and that of his family is thoroughly checked. What about the family of his fiancee or wife? Should I tell my boy friend . about my brothér's record? ~ Worried DEAR WORRIED -- Each case is judged on its own mer- its, Where there is a record in the family, the commissioner himself has to rule on it. What they look for is any evidence of Subversive activities. I can't think that what might be better classed as juvenile delinquency would stand in the way of your marriage. But do tell your boy friend, by all nieans. .DEAR DORIS -- Just what ' is "The Ship of Good Hope"? - How does one join up with it? It is not political. Most of the staff are doctors and nurses, serving on a voluntary rotating basis. But there are bound to be others needed to operate a ship like this one, Write for details to the Peo- ple to People Health Founda- tion, 1016 Twentieth Street N.W., Washington 6, D.C, DEAR DORIS -- I recently met a boy that I like. We were in the same class at the beginning of the year, but be- .cause it was too full he was ~transferred out. When we met in the halls we used to say hello, but ever since my girl friend laughed he has acted funny. I've bought a lot of new oh clothes bit have now found it's not anything like that he wants; just personality, He and I for that matter don't want to be girl and boy friend, just companions. I can't come right out and say I'm sorry for my idiocy because I'm not sure that is what happened. Maybe he just doesn't like me because he's lost interest. What can I do? Confused .
