The final game between Tam Heather and Port Perry was a classic. It was a ding- dong give and take affair right down until the last rock was thrown in the 12th end, when. Port Perry came out the winner. Port Perry Juveniles Overpower Whitby By Gordon Scott Port Perry played a strong game and it looks as though they are playing up to a play "off peak. Although this was only an exhibition game Port played like it really counted, however some of the Wintoy players got carried away and there were three separate fights during the contest. After the third fight which came at 10:06 of the third period Port Perry called the game so as to prevent fur- ther brawls and to keep all players from being either suspended or injured. Tn the first Port Perry took a 1-0.lead on a goal by Robin Parish who was play- ing his first game with as- sists going to Ron Jeffrey and Rick Trotter. At 11:53 B. Colpitts tied it at 1-1, only to have Dennis Romeril put Port back in the lead at 18:59 with a goal, assisted by Earl Phoenix and Glen Geer. It took Port just 15 sec- onds to go ahead 3-1 in the second with Romeril scoring his second of the night with Bruce Ferguson and Earl Phoenix drawing assists. K. Gelder put Whitby back in the game at the conclusion of the second Port led 3-2. Bruce Fergusson started the scoring at 4:32 assisted by Glen Geer and Dennis Ro- meril. L. Moore scored ex- actly a minute later and Port led 4-3. At 6:17 Glen Geer on a pass from Roger Moase gave Port a 2 goal lead until Ken Irvine scored the final tally of the game at 9:42 with Ron Phinney picking up the assist. Final score Port Perry 6, Whitby 3. Port Perry picked up 6 penalties for a total of 15 minutes, while Whitby picked up 11 penal- ties for a total of 58 min- utes. Port Perry Midgets By Gordon Scott Port Perry played a strong game but as the game wore on the older, more experien- ced team started vsing their size and experience to come from behind to edge Port 7-6. This game showed what would come in the future, that is I would say Port is going to be awfu] tough in the play-offs. Scoring for Port were Brent Heard with two, assisted by Bourgeois both times and Evans and McCartney each drawing an assist. Danny McCartney un- assisted, Ken Nightingale from Paul Kane, Martin Ad- amson from G. McLaughlin and Bill Jeffrey from Ken Nightingale and N. McLaugh- Show Strong Form lin evened out the Port scor- ing. For Oshawa, P. Floech with four, T. Flontech, K. Linton and S. Pollard _fini- shed out the scoring. The first period ended Port Perry 2, Oshawa 2. At the end of the second it was 5-3 for Oshawa and although Port Perry took the lead, blew the game in the last minute. Final score was 7-6 Oshawa.
