1 Seagrave News Here goes for reporting last week's night life here. On Monday the church stewards met. The business was of a general nature. Bert Wanamaker and Bruce Carr were re-elected as 'chairman and secretary. At the Tuesday meeting the Youth - Group elected their officers as follows. Pres.-Don- na Bruce, Bice-Pres. - Patricia Durward, Sec. - Shirley Short, Tréas. - Debbie Maschke, Program Committee Bob Burr, Wendy Monahan and Gordon Short. Five girls and only 2 boys? Wednesday was the day of the snowstorm back here. The U.C.W. meeting was post- poned for 2 whole weeks until February 25. On Thurs. about 40 people representing the offical board of Greenbank charge met to set up committees and make plans. Friday was euchre night. The attendance was only fair. The really good players were Clifford Short (a lady that night) and Grant Bright. The not-so-good were Mrs. D. Fish and Gordon Lloyd. Mrs, Fish also won the prize for the nearest "birthday date. The next euchre will be held on February 27th, » : On Saturday cam&."Famil Fun Night" arranged by Guide and Brownie mothers. The lad- ies were quite pleased with the response as about 100 people enjoyed a good time inside or outside the church and there were lots of hot dogs. We are pleased to report that Mr. Thos. Henningsen and Mr. Thos. Duren have both been discharged from the hospital. Another resident of long ago, Mrs, Orr Shunk of Peter- boro has been spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. Bright and Mr. LIrwin. Last week Mr. Roy Scott accompanied his son Ken to Ottawa to see Mr. S. The Wanamaker family had a celebration on Sunday even- ing -at the Ron Wanamaker home in Oshawa. The occas- ion was the 365th wedding anniversary of the merchant and his wife, Baskets of flowers were placed in the church on Sun- day in memory of the late Mrs. Ken Fralick. At S.S. 3 girls and 2 boys of Mrs. Cliff Short's class had a little song for us and Mrs. Dowson had her birthday money. PRINCE ALBERT Continued visitors with Mr and Mrs. Grant Hunter. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ingle ton, Markham visited a coup- le of days with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gibson. Mrs. Ross Alsop enjoyed a week recently with her dau. ghter, Mr. and Mrs. A. Obituary ituary LEWIS WERRY SWAIN Lewis Werry Swain of Blackstock entered into rest at Oshawa General Hospital on Thursday, February 5th, 1970. The deceased was born October 15, 1892 and lived all. his life in Cartwright Township. He was the eld- est son of the late Stanford and Sarah Catherine (Werry) Swain, He married Janet Hall on spent the fifty-three years of their married life on. their farm on the Third Concession in Cartwright. He was an elder of Blackstock United Church, He is survived by his wife. Janet, sons Percy and Ernest of Blackstock, David of Lon- don, Ont.; 'daughters, Reta (Mrs. James Wilson), Janet (Mrs. Clare Vernon), both of Port Perry, Winnifred (Mrs. William Cordingley) of Tor- onto and twenty-five grand. children and two great grand- childrén. Also a sister, Ann November 22, 1916 and they|- (Mrs. Milton Sanderson) and J brothers, Weir of Toronto, Herb and Harold of Blark- stock. He was predeceased by two sisters, Agnes (Mrs. Clarence Marlow), Margaret (Mrs. Oakley Carley) and a brother, Roy. The funeral service was held on Monday, February 9, 1970 from the McDermott- Panabaker Funeral Chapel, Port Perry. Rev. Victor Par- sons and Rev. Milton Sander- son officiated.
