We will miss them and hope they will remember to visit us often. Thumbs Down to the ever increasing number of fundraising groups we find at the entrances to stores. No one minds donating to worthy causes, _ especially local ones, but those canvassers trucked in and dropped off, from outside the community, should be given the boot. Thumbs Up to the Young People’s Theatre Company that is being formed in Port Perry. It will be a wonderful opportunity for some of Scugog’s talented young people. We look forward to your first planned musical. Thumbs Down for those who made the decision to include the Royal Canadian Legion in the new Ontario-wide smoking ban. You have to ask yourself {t= ~ if our veterans don’t wonder what they fought for, as they are now forced to stand outside to enjoy a legal smoke. Aren't cigarettes less dangerous than bullets? Thumbs Down to the growing number of busi- nesses which refuse to accept $50 and $100 bills. We suggest they invest in a money scanner. Turning = away legal currency just doesn’t seem like a good business practice. Thumbs Up to Scugog council for wanting to ask the developers of the proposed gargantuan plaza on 7A for more time to study all of the information needed to make the right decision. This controver- sial proposal certainly deserves more input. Thumbs Down to uncourteous drivers who fail to use their turning signals. It's infuriating waiting at a corner for a vehicle to drive by, only to find out it’s - tuming at the last minute. Just makes you want to swear. Okay | will. ?*/@#’ */ Thumbs Up to all the volunteers and participants who took part in this year's Canoe The Nonquon. As fate would have it the heaven's opened up and rain fell for most of the day. But this didn't deter 140 hardy souls from making the river/lake trek. Thumbs Down to the big oil companies who con- tinue to play with our minds and wallets. How can gas go from 89.9¢ litre in the afternoon to $107.9 a = few hours later? Come on guys... give us a break! focus@observerpub.ca
