The team playing especial- ly well throughout the tour- nament won four games and the championship. Goalie Barry Heard had just four goals scored against him. Jamie Malcolm and Dong Christie (who was mov- ed back on defence) played strong games. Glenn Me- Kean was good at centre ice and Dave Horton checked & checked. Tom Olsen led the way with seven goals. Regu- lar defenceman Jim Phoenix was sidelined with a knee in- jury but went with the team as a spectator. In fifteen years of compe- tition (when Barrv-Howey & Joe Fowler took the first Pee Wee team to Goderich and present coach Garry Geer was a player) this is the first championship Port Perry have won. The team arrived home late Sat. night and were met at the edge of town by the fire truck and a large crowd of cheering parents and fans. The team climbed on the fire truck for a victory ride through town and to the arena. The club appreciate the ef- forts of the Port Perry Le- gion, for the new uniforms received this winter and for making the Goderich trip possible, also to Maurice Jef- frey taking over as manager in Gederich. * * * OI SEN SCORES SEVEN PORT PERRY 4, LAMBETH 1 The Legion Pee Wee's play- ed their first game at 7:30 am. Friday, March 27th against Lambeth. Port had notrouble with this team win- ning 4-1. Goal scorers for Port were: Doug Christie, Gord Scott from John Scott, Olsen from McKean, then Tim Ashbridge. * * * PORT PERRY 4, LUCKNOW 0 i The second game for the Legion team was played at 5.30_p.m. Fri, March 27th. Port downed Lutknow 4-0 in this game, goals going to Olsen from Ashbridge, Had- ley, John Scott from Hadley, Horton from McKean and Olsen. } * * * PORT PERRY 3, MITCHELL 2 Sat. at 12.30 p.m.. Port played Mitchell, this was the game they had to win to go on to the finals and this was the team that gave them the most trouble. Port took a 3-1 lead then late in the game Mitchell scored when Port was short handed to make it 3-2. Mit. chell pulled thejr goalie to try and even the score but Port held on for a 3-2 win. Goals by -- Olsen 'from Horton and McKean, Ol-en from McKean and Malcolm, M Olsen from Christie. * * * PORT PERRY 3, DORCHESTER 1 The championship game was played between Port and Dorchester Sat. at 6:45 p.m. Coach Garry Geer and Train- er Jim Woodcock had the team up- for this game. A good crowd was on hand to see the Legion team take Dorchester 3-1 and the cham- pionship.
