Forty-four teen- agers and adults performed With their usual high stand- "ard of excellence. John Bea- ton of Oshawa, was guest ar- tist, and his violin solos were very much enjoyed. General Proficiency award --for best lesson preparation, and exceptional effort and interest throughout the year, was presented to Melody Me- dowell, a Grade VIII Piano student. Marianne Smits re- ceived the trophy for the highest mark in a written subject last year, with 97¢; on the Grade II Rudiments. The Junior students. of Piano and Singing, held their Recital the following even- ing. The progress of these children from last year was astonishing -- all played by memory, and the singing was particularly enjoyable. Duets were also sung by Anne Hope "and Judy Howsam; and Billie 1ano, Vocal Students Win Awards At Recital Sharpe and Roger Watson. These two boys recently re- ceived First Class Honors on their first singing examina- tion of the Royal Conserva- tory of Music. Highest mark in examina- tions for last year went to Paula Jeffrey--who has stu- died two years and is com- mencing Grade V -- having passed Grade II and Grade IV exams with honors stand- ing. General Proficiency awards were presented to Joy Panabaker, Stephanie Kandel and Anna - Marie Robertson. Special mention of Janet Watson, who studied erlv since September, and passed the Grade II examination with First Class Honors. All students seemed to show a joy and satisfaction in playing to the very best of their capabilities, and show promise of becoming exceptional musicians in fu- ture. The business was taken care of until September meet- ing and plans discussed for annual picnic at Uxbridge on 14th. Mrs. J. Ianson gave a report on Tweedsmuir History and Mrs. H. Phoenix a brief re- port on the District Annual at Claremont. An invitation from Mrs. W. Graham was accepted to attend a lawn party on June 24th at her home near Green- bank. The Motto was given by Mrs. G. Mero on "The Edison Record". A musical contest and a reading by Mrs. G. Beaton. The north & south groups of 4-H girls then gave a de- monstration of their work. T he meeting closed with O Canada and W. I. Grace. Lunch was served by the group in charge. A full turnout of council- lors made the meeting a suc cess with each person offer- ing ideas and asking ques: tions. A resolution was pass- ed suggesting each munici- pality send a motion to the OAPADS study group stating that each wishes to join to- gether to form a unit and stay as one unit in any region that may be formed.
