Fhe Editor, Port Perry Star, Dear Sir, 'We find the letter from the: Grade 13 student in the last issue of the Star most distressing. Why, if he (or . she asthe case may be) finds so many things wrong, does -he bother attending, school, and wasting the 'taxpayers' money? It -is' our/ understanding that cafeteria privileges and free time spares were with- drawn this year because these privileges = were misused last year. The student who wrote the letter would like his spares -as "his free time." He certainly : could use. those spares to his own advantage. The student seems to think that a person is mature because he is old enough to vote and to smoke. I am surprised -- he forgot to mention drink, He could have shown how mature he was by signing his lettér, No one should ever be afraid signing his name if he * himself Jirmly believes in what he hos to say or is doing. We think: the most disturbing point of the whole letter is that so little credit is given to experience -- the many years of experience of Mr, MacDonald. With over ~ 1,100 students in his schoo!, he has to run a 'tight ship." To" Mr. MacDonald: We have three children in your school. and we have yet to hear of a legitimate com. plaint from anyone of them, You have a tremendous responsibility... We, as parents, are negligent sometimes. in':handing out J OCAL HEADQUA SE LOVELACE and Watches For Men ey gn) _ Watches For Children [ p Fully Jewelled from $16.99 Srne EDITOR time as any. The Editor, Port Perry Star Dear Sir: I would like everyone to know a different point of view concerning particulars of Port Perry High School. Last week a student wrote saying dist espertiul things about Mr. Mac the general workings of the school, Well I was a student of Port Perry High School just a couple of years ago and my observations were completely different. I remember the offices of Mr. MacDonald and Mr. Litt as being a place where I could air grievances and get very helpful advice on life in general and on any par- ticular problem that I per- sonally had or any group of us had. These dedicated men as well as most teachers bent "over backwards to help me and the entire student body in as many ways as they possibly could. On more than one occasion, I know of students that received ad- - vice from either Mr. Mac- Donald and his staff that led to a successful solution to what was 'a seemingly unreachable problem. It seems obvious that the grade thirteen student must Is COMING - 3 Weeks Left {Pentiand Jewellery Ltd.) 193 QUEEN STREET -- 985-7641 = PORT PERRY N J Watches : For Women { , 8 WE ALSO HAVE TIMEX WATCHES SOW USE OUR CHRISTMAS LAYAWAY PLAN ) A SMALL DEPOSIT WILL HOLD ANY ARTICLE 10% Cash Discount on all Diamonds nald and: ¥ v i A 7777777770 YEN BAY, LA 1d 5, 0, Ah fr LV his have+had very limited ex- "perience concerning the 'library as it certainly is one 'of the best school libraries in the countyy. There is enough "material to" help students learn something from most any aspect of the present day or the past. And each person must be very learned before - 'they can pass judgement "detrimental to' a place that. has helped so many students - "achieve whatever subjects they have selected to study: This student feels the teachers get more comfort than they deserve or is it the students who don't get enough? Don't forget these same teachers have earned a little privacy where they can sit in comfort to figure ways of helping students and concern themselves with ways of perhaps improving class standards. I write this in the hope that each student will realize some of your best years are your school days: something I regret I didn't realize until I was finished my school days.
