In the first game, An- derson Street Juniors beat Port Perry by 64-41. High _scorers for Port Perry were Steve Brain and Cal Cochrane with ten points each, and Jerry. Stulen and Shawn Lackie with eight each. The Senior game which Port Perry won 85 - 66 was a high scoring, scrambly affair, with Anderson playing full court, man-to- man throughout. For Port Perry, 4 players scored in the double figures: Dean Beare, Don Sinclair, Laurie Williams, and Jim Zoet. The Midgets did not play because Anderson does not have a midget team. On January 21, all three Port Perry teams saw action in Pickering. 5a The Midget A team lost a close contest, 25-19: The Midget B team won their game 40-31 with Ted Buchanan's. fine rebounding and Doug Bronson's ball control helping the victory-- Ted Buchanan was high scorer in this game with 25 points. The Port Perry Juniors lost to Pickering 44-43 in overtime. The score was tied 40-40, with: Pickering going ahead in the overtime period. Ken Davidson, Steve Brain and Cal Cochrane were high scorers for the "Juniors, Port Perry won the Senior 53-35 with both teams using a strong man-to-man defense in the first half. After leading 20-16 at half-time, Port Perry opened the game up in the second half to gain the win. LADIES WEDNESDAY NIGHT BOWLING Jan. 19th, 1972 Birch Novice team takes. consolation trophy On Saturday, January 22, Tripp Construction 'Novice, team: won the. Consolation Trophy at the annual Novice Tournament in" Beaverton. In the first .of their three games, the opposition was the host club, Beaverton. The - game was a fast- skating; hard hitting affair, and provided some thrilling action. The score ended ina 4 - 4 deadlock, but the victory was awarded to Beaverton by an empty contest for goals scored form centre ice. ~For Port Perry, Burnett and Owen scored two goals cach. In the second game, the team walked over Sutton by a score of 5 - 1. Ashmore, Fellows, Tobin, Brown and Robertson counted the goals to move the team into the Consolation Championship game. Port Perry was determined to win this game, and this deter- niination showed as the final score was 6 - 1 in Port Perry's favour. The line of Ashmore, Fellows and Kane provided the fire-power as it counted for five of the six - goals. Franssen added the other goals. Next home game for the "Novice team will' be January = ~ 28 at 7:45 with West Rouge heing the opposition. 5 Rock-ets in first place Carol Bond scored her first hat trick of the season of January 16 as the Port Perry Rockets blasted Woodville 10-0 in Woodville. The girls' continued with their scoring spree two days later by walking over Whitby . 8-1inagame played in Port . Perry. This win was a team effort as the girls' knowledge and skills of the game are! improving steadily. On January 20, the Rock-et. B team hosted the Whitby B's, and the game ended in a 3-3 deadlock.
