Mrs. Rupert Werry passed away in Port Perry onFriday with the funeral onMonday afternoon. 'Sympathy is - extended to RoyWerry in the loss of his mother as well as to the many other relatives. It is to give the general public an idea what courses and facilities are provided with tax dol- "lars, and how these facilities are utilized by the students. And it is also hoped that -_ prospective students will be impressed enough by what they see at Open House to consider a tsecondary : Soe of study at Durham Colle - Stu College's three divisions Applied Arts, Business oe "Technol various displays and dem- onstrations to show what is going on within the res- pective divisions. -- The Applied Arts Divisions plans displays of art, photo- graphy, studio and design projects, the preparation of College publications, --and radio and television broad- casting.A special feature will be "man in the street" television interviews where- in students will interview visitors in what has been described only as an '"'un- usual setting." In the. Business Division there will be displays of accounting and- marketing procedures, and a history of data processing from earl- . jest methods up to the present sophisticated com- puters. There will be demon- strations by secretarial stu- dents in typing and short- hand labs. Visitors will be allowed to take a six-minute test which will indicate their rate of reading and reading com- prehension abilities. Students will show how retail and advertising dis- plays are prepared. In the Technology Div- .ision; 'amateur radio _opera- tors will be talking to their counterparts in Europe and South America. A computer will be pro grammed to produce music, and one fitted with a cathode screen will produce kal- hs patterns. There are even plans for a "computer" crop game. Technology students will be demonstrating sophisti- cated Squipment used for chemical analysis. One special event at Open House will be a fashion show sponsored by Simpson's Sears. The entire show, including set design, light- , direction and of course the modelling will be a student effort. The fashion show will -beheld inthe cafeteria, and with five complete shows daily, two each afternoon and three in the evening.
