During the past week, July 10 to 14, some 70 children attended Greenbank Vacation Bible School. Their _ activities consisted of Bible reading, stories, songs, doing .avariety of crafts and a 15 to 20 minute recess for games and treats. On Friday evening, par- ents and friends were invited to'a closing program con- sisting of a Worship service taken by. the Intermediate Class, a number of songs, dramatizations and verses by the various classes. The children's crafts, drawings . ~~ and booklets were on display showing what had been accomplished. A special thank you goes to those who donated treats or money to help defray costs. Our offering is to be used to purchase something for the Sunderland Retarded Child- ren's Home - 'possibly records. Teachers and assistants for each department were: Nursery - Mrs. V. South) Picnic held in Uxbridge Park last Tuesday. There were 92 ladies present and all en- joyed a good time, Mrs. Stanley McMillan and Mrs. Ellinham of Hamilton visited Mr. and Mrs. H. McMillan recently. Several from here attended the Carnegie Picnic at Herb Paisley's at Leaskdale on Saturday. Sympathy is extended to Mr. Norman Elson on the death. of his ' brother at Ballantrae last week. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Till at- tended the Cragg Picnic at Vandorf recently. Mrs. Bill Dixon and boys are visiting with her mother in Arnprior this week. ' Mrs. Ross Cookman, Kathy and Christopher are _ vacationing for 2 weeks in Western Canada. Mr. and Mrs. M. Lee and Mr. and Mrs. R. Fairman are on a holiday to the east coast. The Fairman children are visiting in Gravenhurst with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. V. Mount visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. D. Paxton at Stoney Lake. Mr. and Mrs. J. Ianson took Paul and Kevin home Greenbank News this week and stayed to visit with the Walkers for a couple of days at Hepworth, Mrs. Jean Somerville ac- companied her brother and his wife Mr. and Mrs. H. Bagshaw on a trip through northern Ontario and down to visit Mrs. H. Saunders near Ottawa. Mi A beautiful wedding was solemnized in the Greenbank Church on Saturday after- noon when Miss Margaret Spence became the bride of Mr. Ross Stager. Congrat- ulations and best wishes to the happy couple who will reside in Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Almer Ren- nie of Sunderland and his sister Mrs. Howard Groom of Winnipeg visited with Mr, and Mrs. Fred Phoenix on Saturday evening. We were saddened to hear of the sudden death of Robert Schrader, husband of Hilda Reynolds (formerly of Greenbank) who was drowned last Wednesday. Our sympathy is extended to the family. There was an attendance of 18 members and two visitors present, The meeting was openéd by 'repeating the Lord's Prayer led by Mrs. Webster, The scripture lesson was taken from John 3, Verses 3 - 18 read by Mrs. R. Aird, A reading "Advice to the Unsure' was given by Mrs, Aird. Mrs. Webster gave a very appropriate reading. The president, Mrs. King- stone opened the business by reading a poem "My Garden", It was decided to have a rummage sale in September. United Church week will be held October 15th -- 22nd. Thank offering meeting on October 18th with a speaker and slides to be shown. + Mrs. W. Holtby will have the August meeting at her home. The meeting closed with prayer.
