Mr. and Mrs. Roy Turner, Lorrie and Janet have spent some time visiting with Mr.a nd Mrs. Dale Gunter and family at Thunder Bay. Miss Nancy Dorrell, after completing a summer course at London, enjoyed a motor trip to Timmins, Manitoulin PORT re ~ Island and Ottawa with Miss Jane Oliver, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Drinkwater and family of Ottawa spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. W. W. VanCamp. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Duns- moor and family of Grande Island, New York spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dunsmoor. During the night Saturday night a dreadful wind storm reaching hurricane propor- tions struck the south end of the Township doing severe damage to many properties. Mr. and Mrs. R. Balida had their new horse arena dem- olished. Mr. Martens' barn on the former Dean's farm was also blown down. Many other buildings also suffered damage. The Thursday Guild met on Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Edger- ton. During the business period, plans were set for the Fall Supper for October 21st. A Fashion Show is tentatively set for September 28 and Sewing Tips by Simplicity Patterns. One of the worst storms in history passed through the great Pine Ridge a real twister which started west of Enfiled and followed through a path to the first concession of Cartwright and north to Cadmus. Several barns were damaged at Enfield and the barn on Fred Tabb property was blown down. Also one of Mr. Bilida and Mr. Martens, Hooey Brothers on first concession of Cartwright and a nearly new drive shed on the farm of Mr. Daniel Traquair. (Intended for last week) Mrs. W. Bryan called on Mr. and Mrs. C. Cooper, Orono recently. Mr. and Mrs. E. Lunn, Orono called on Mrs. T. Bailey during the week. Mrs. Sam Grant, David, Alan and James Qion spent Monday with Mrs. R. Davey. Mr. G. Baker and family, New Park are busy remodel- ling the.church property. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fitz- gerald and family are now living in Ajax. Master Todd Weston is a patient in Bowmanville Memorial Hospital. We all hope you will soon be able to be home again. Miss Leta Andrews, Bam- bridge, Ireland was a visitor of Mrs. R. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Holroyd, Bowmanville were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holroyd and family o on Saturday. Mr, Wayne Weston re- cently spent a week resting in Bowmanville Hospital. We are pleased to report he is able to be home again. Nursing Home News Only one new resident was admitted during the week. She is Mrs. Edna Pearcey of Galt, Ontario. Nobody was discharged during that time. We had many visitors to the Home who took the patients out for car rides. Mrs. Myrtle Marlow, Mrs. Lola Leadlay, Mrs. Marge Letcher, Mrs. Edna Pearcey, Grant Chris- tie, Jim Wyatt and John Doupe all had very enjoyable visits from friends and relatives. Miss Beryl Moore, daugh- ter of Rev. Moore and Mrs. Moore of Uxbridge is enter- ing University of Windsor on - September 7th to take a four year course in Science. She will graduate with a B. Sc. degree in nursing. Beryl has been~on the staff of the Nursing home for the past two summers and best wishes for success in her' studies are extended to her by everyone on the Nursing Home Staff. John Kelly had a birthday on the 28th August. He also: became a grandfather for the tenth time on August 20th. Staff holidays are just about over. Mrs. Wayne Woods RN returned last week from an interesting holiday on the east coast.
