Barry won first prize with his red and white Holstein calf, competing against 54 "other: top 4H calves from across Eastern Central Ont- ario. His calf 'was also Reserve Champion in the competition. Ci VanCamp with her Junior Holstin calf placed third in this group. Dale VanCamp also showed his 4H calf and was third in the Senior Division, Cindy was eligible to compete in the Showmanship Class and was Reserve champion Showman for the day.- Following the competition, they attended the 4H Ban- quet and Evening perfor- mance of the Grandstand Show of Lindsay Fair. Several of our local resi- dents are in hospital or recovering at home follow- ing hospital stay. Mrs. Ralph Larmer is in Port Perry Hospital following surgery last week, Mrs. George Cochrance is still in Oshawa Hospital following her acci- dent. Don Green is home from his stay in Oshawa General and Mrs. Grace Vlieger is home recovering from her very painful burn she received in an accident while working at Conway Gardens, Port Perry. One of the largest delega- tions from Cartwright ever to attend a Progressive-Con- servative nomination meet- ing attended the meeting held in Cobourg Collegiate on Wednesday evening. Most of those who went from Cart- wright . travelled by a Dorrell-Rohrer bus driven by Dalton Dorrell. All en- joyed the informative meet- ing during which Mr. Al Lawrence emerged as the P-C Candidate for Northum- berland-Durham in the forthcoming election. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stanfield were in attendance and spoke to the large crowd. Among the recent callers of Mrs. J.A. UXBRIDGE hi There was one admittance to the home during the week, Mr. John Marsden who was transferred from Sunny- brook Hospital in Toronto. On Tuesday evening, we had a visit from Rev. Rose of the Port Perry Anglican Church, He brought along. a movie depicting life in Afri- ca, It showed the tremen- dous progress the mission- aries have accomplished in spreading the Bible through- out the country. The resi- dents enjoyed the film very much indeed. - On Friday evening, the residents were treated to a return visit from the musical troup comprising Mrs. Whit- ter at the piano, John Greaves with his electric mandolin and Jimmy Wyatt with the "Bones". They were "joined by Mrs. Grace D'And- rade who played the piano accordion, The residents sang heartily as many old time favourite tunes and altogether it proved a won- derful evening of fun. We are deeply grateful to the group of musicians and friends from the legion for coming here and entertaining the residents, particularly, those who are "shut in" most of the time.
