2 Norm Cafik, the Ontario Riding M.P. was obviously enjoying his work when he joined Ajax Mayor Williams LeGros in cutting the ribbon " to officially open the town's beautiful new swimming pool. In his introductory remarks, Mayor LeGros paid tribute to Norm Cafik for the work he had done in securing a combination grant and loan from the federal government of $445,000 for the pool. Well in excess of $100,000 will be covered by the grant portion. Over 300 residents of the town were present for the #8 opening, and gave Mr. Cafik a resounding ovation when he concluded his remarks. Mr. Cafik stated that he had . contacted all the municipal- ities in the Riding when he learned that these grants were available from ottawa, ®. and he was very pleased that the Mayor and council of Ajax took advantage of the program to get this sports asset for the entire com- munity. Earlier in the evening, Mr. Cafik attended the official opening of the new Ajax Day Care Centre. Mr. Cafik has secured over $2,000,000 in federal grants over the past year. Mr. Cafik stated that the $2,000,000 he had secured for this Riding was probably the largest amount for any riding in Canada.
