Quite a number of our residents are involved in exhibiting in various areas of ® the Fair - we wish them all well. Meanwhile many others visit it either in -, private parties or as groups. Last - Friday the Senior Citizens took a bus to the Fair and the High School o look two buses on Saturday, Quite probably other groups will be going this week. A fine crowd attended the annual Remembrance Day Service held Saturday morn- .ing the Recreation Centre. ¢ The impressive service was conducted by Rev. R.C. Rose of St. John's Anglican Church and Mrs, Roy Corden played the piano for the - hymns. : The Service was opened by o the singing of O Canada followed by the Call to Worship and a Prayer of Invocation. The Hymn O God , our Help in Ages Past was sung followed by the Scrip- ture Reading, Address and Prayer of Remembrance. # After the hymn, Thy King- dom Come, O God, was suhg, the parade to the Cenotaph, led by Colour and Youth Groups was made. * When the group was as- sembled there, Reeve Law- # rence S. Malcolm read the Hounour Roll after which the Laying of Wreaths took place. Mrs. M. Emmerson, Silver Star Mother laid the Province of Ontario Wreath, Valerie VanCamp and Blair Graham laid the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts wreaths. ~. Following the Two Minutes Silence at 11:00 a.m. the Bugler sounded The Last Post. » The singing of The Queen concluded the service. ¢- The Library at Blackstock High School is open to the Public each Wednesday eve- ning. Books may be bor- rowed for a period of two weeks at a nominal fee of 50 cents per school term. It is wondered how many of our citizens who do not have children at school are aware of this new privilege. Let's all show the authorities that we appreciate this inno- vationby making better use of the library. y Mrs. Elizabeth -Skelding and Mrs. Velva Bailey spent several days last week in Toronto and attended the Annual Convention of the Women's Institutes of Ont- Seagrave 4-H Club + The Seagrave rrintesses held their seventh meeting in the Seagrave Church base- . ment, November 8, 7:00 p.m, We opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge followed with the reading of the minutes by Janet Abraham. Planning the exhibit was the only business. After the setting for the exhibit was approved each member pro- mised to contribute her share. With no discussion or demonstration we went right into group work where we tried the various "found objects' we had collected. Some of these objects were keys, tumblers, thimbles, spools, etc. We then closed the meet- ing with the motto "We learn to do by doing. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Larmer, Danille and Jason, Pickering also called on her grandmother, Mrs. Fowler after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rus- sell Larmer. Sorry to have erred in reporting that Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Marlow had left for their annual vacation in Florida. Unfortunately their intentions were delayed when their car suffered damage from an unexpected encounter with a deer. Cer- tainly hope that my mistake has not caused any incon- venience. Men's High - Mr. Cox, Second - William Forder, Luck draw - Reid Cook. On Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Saywell entertained Mrs. Saywell's brothers and sisters for dinner. Attending this lovely family party from here were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van- camp, Mr. and Mrs. Percy VanCamp, Mrs. W.W. Van- Camp, Mrs. Stanford Van- Camp, Mr. Jack VanCamp, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kemp. This gathering was celebrat- ing Mr, and Mrs, Harry Van- Camp's fortieth wedding anniversary and Mr. Ste- phen Saywell's forty years in business. There were 28 members and 3 visitors present. Mrs. Naples thanked the members for their effort in making the Handicraft show a success.
