- the address Dear Editor: Next year is Prince Ed- ward Island's Centennial. As part of a Centennial project I am compiling the histories of R.C.N. ships, named after P.E.l., communities, which served in World War II. "These were H.M.C. Ships Charlottetown (first and second), Summerside and Malpegue. 7] am most anxious to hear rom any members of these four ships' companies to query them on specific details and general impres- sions. I may be reached at shown. All correspondence will be ans- wered. 1 Sincerely yours, Michael Hennessey Dear Sir: I am writing this letter in regards to the old Post Office. So far I have found nothing that states they aren't going "to tear down the Post Office and replace it with the modern architecture build- ing which I hope many people have seen. It seems a shame to me that when people around Port Perry are interested in starting a Museum to pre- serve many of the old things our ancestors used so the - future generations can see what our forefathers had to work with, 'They have preserved many old pictures of places and buildings in the surroun- ding area of Port Perry for LIONS CLUB OF How to play-- for $1.00. paper. So surely I see no reason for all your organizations in Port Perry. : There should be one that would fight for the preserva- tions of one old land mark in * Port Perry and preserve this building for future generat- ions for many of the old timers that come back to your beautiful town on the Shores of Lake Scugog. Sincerely, Laura Brekke Dear Sir: It is most unfortunate that the Government of Quebec should have approved, in- deed initiated, a mass attack on the wolf population in the Province of Quebec. The recent announcement that the the Government proposes to sponsor a special wolf hunting season is bad enough, but the news that the Government plans to use cruel traps, and even more cruel poisons to eliminate these animals is almost incredible. : The Department of Tour- ism, Fish & Game is undoubtedly concerned with attracting "sportsmen" to the Province of Quebec and no doubt spends a large amount of money trying to achieve that end. The effect of the recent announcement has been to bring to 'the Province of Quebec more- had publicity than they have been able to achieve than by almost any other problem. . Canada's reputation abroad: suffered badly the seal hunting controversy, but now we age being once again reviled as cruel and back- ward in our approach to wild life. Perhaps, even harder to take is the very strong - suggestion that not only are we cruel and backward but rather stupid as well since we obviously believe in the simple equation, "less wolves more deer." The prime concern of the Department is- to provide enough deer for people to kill in such a way that valuable dollars are brought into Quebec and left there. This must be the case, because if not, and if the real concern is the welfare of the deer population, then the simple answer is to prohibit deer hunting. If the Government of Quebec. would simply sus- pend the killing of wolves, deer and other animals, the natural balance would very CA Ir HO AALAND RE bahay LIYE A SL RIA MPH TA CABGTEF BANIL ERENT SUT ETE No PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Nov. 8, 1972 -- 5 CedarCreek News | Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lar- ocque spent last weekend in Toronto with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Trepanier.
