Greenbank U.C.W. elect executive On November 1, the eve- ning unit of Greenbank U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. Hugh Baird with 20 members and 2 visitors present. The evening devotions were led by Mrs. M. McGee and Mrs. H. Baird who chose as their theme "Love". Mrs. Baird opened the meeting with a short reading of "Thoughts on Love," All sang one verse of "What a friend we have in Jesus." A trio consisting of Mrs. D. Lee, Mrs. Glenn Smith and Mrs. H. Baird accompanied by Mrs. McGee at the piano gave a message in song, "Be still my soul." Mr. Robt. Bone of Zephyr was introduced as guest speaker. Mr. Bone's mes- sage dealt with women and their Church, and: was both inspiring and challenging. He pointed out that women today do much the same type of work the Ladies Aid did years ago -- with their devotions, practical work for raising money, caring for parsonage needs, assisting Board of Stewards financi- ally, packing clothing bales etc. He challenged all to search their souls for the reasons for being involved in U.C.W. in Sunday School Work -or stewardship, for many be- come too tense with details of practical work, and feel- ings of duty, instead of ~ letting love be the motiva- ting influence in our lives, love of work, love of fellow- ship, love of fellowman. In closing he said "Seek to be inspired by love in order to be a better United Church Woman." The trio again sang -- "Wondering One'. Offering was received and offeratory hymn sung. Mrs. McGee then led in prayer. One verse of "Take time to be holy" concluded the devotions a- long with this thought "through love one creates his own personality and helps others create theirs." Mrs. R. Rahm opened the business session with a welcome to all and special thanks to program guests Mrs. Mary June Smith and Mr. Bone, also to Roberta for her hospitality. Secreatary and treasurer reports were given. It was moved that the group serve pie and coffee at F. Lee's sale, Nov. 10. The Christmas meeting will be held December 6, 8:15 p.m. at the church. Please come and enjoy an evening of song, worship, fun con- tests and food!
