County. council last week approved a bylaw to acquire by expropriation land which is required for the widening, reconstruction ,and impro- ving of County ®*Road 23 (Reach-Uxbridge Townline). In the June 27th report of the roads and bridges com- mittee, council members approved the commence- ment of expropriation pre- bylaw will cover all of the unsettled properties throu- ghout the eight mile stretch of this section-of the road. With the passing of the bylaw, the report said notice of possession will be served to land owners and the actual date of possession is at least three months from the time notice is served. The report said a hearing related to drainage rather than to the proposed widen- ing, present at the hearing, said the committee's report and the drainage systéth was explained to his satisfaction. The county will build a twolane paved highway to connect in the north with "road 23 which goes up to the Beaverton area. In the south the new road will join up with a five-mile part of this road already under construction. The report said it is proposed - in the future to have road 23 run north from the' Maddonald-Cartier Freeway up to the Beaverton and Lake Simcoe area. As a result of criticial comments from members of . the three churches, the Rh General Commission at its eleventh meeting last week in Port Credit, Ontario, decided to recommend a change in name to Church of Christ in Canada. The document has now been referred to a revision committee and will be submitted for interim approval by the executive of the General Commission and then, hopefully, to the execu- tive committees of the three churches at a joint meeting in February, 1973.
