A Aswe write this we haven't a clue as to who will be members of our new muni cipal council but we figure it is the time to again protest about the lack of council news. As we recall it, the paper carried a description (and picture too) of the inaugural meeting two years ago and since then -- almost nothing. Why shouldn't coun- cil use our local paper to report what most certainly is our business? A few lines about school board decisions wouldn't be a bad idea either. All signs point to Christmas here. Santa paid his annual visit to the store on Satyrday afternoon. He blew in from the west this time in a red convertible and handed out candy to more than 150 children. The lady coffee makers were busy too. Santa also visited the shut-ins. On Saturday evening the GM choir from Oshawa gave a concert in the church. It was sponsored by Unit 2 U.C.W. but attendance was only fair. The music was a good no-nonsense variety and was decidedly Christmassy in content so was well received. The faithful arrived as usual for Sunday morning service at which Mr. Criteh spoke on "Voices of Advent." In the evening the chureh was filled for the presentation of the Christmas Pageant which has become so much a part of our season's activ- ities. This is completely home-produced by members of the S.S. - both large and small. It wouldn't do to mention names but we can say that this year's pre- sentation was up to the usual standard. Coming up are - the U.C.W. Christmas party on Dec- ember 13, the Christmas tree on December 15 and the White Gift service on Dec- ember 17. Ladies attending the U.C.W. party will please bring a small gift for the exchange. All are welcome. With our Christmas - like weather we weren't sur- prised to see one snowmobile enthusiast trying on Sunday to persuade himself that the season had begun. The coms. mitments and interest ap- pear to be much more encouraging. Rev. Brown is giving us much good advice and helping in every possible way and he well deserves our support. The Sunday School has decided not to have a White Gift Sunday this year. But as we are $300. behind with our missionary and Service Fund it is thought to be more beneficial if envel- opes are given out at the door next Sunday to be returned the following Sunday and this will take the place of the White Gifts.
